Irises, gardening, books, and cats. 🏳️🌈 🌻 🐈
'Ormohr', from 1937, is such a difficult variety. This is the first time it has bloomed since 2009. The color is exquisite. I wish it was a better grower in my climate. Hoping to send some to a friend in CA next year where it may do better. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Oregon Trail', from 1943, is a rare iris in a beautiful blend of gold and brown tones finished with a smart little dart of blue to enhance the color scheme. Sadly it is not a strong grower and bloomer. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Orange Twotone', from 1954, is a bright spot of color in the garden. An uninspired name, but a great grower and bloomer. This is a border bearded (BB) so a good one for the front of the garden border. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling.
'Orange Crush', from 1959, is a really nice creamy orange variety that draws the eye. A nice change from the rusty oranges in the rest of the garden. Has been a good grower and bloomer for me so far. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Nuevo Laredo', from 1956, is incredibly rare. I am doing my best to grow it out and get it into more gardens for preservation. The color blends are so pretty. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Nomohr', from 1955, is a lovely creamy yellow confection. A good grower and bloomer too. A long time favorite. Child of the famous 'Snow FLurry'. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Mother Of Pearl', from 1917, is a frosted delight of a flower. A very good grower and bloomer too. Put on a good show this year. Has been a long time favorite of mine. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Mountain Sunset', from 1934, is a wonderful blend of fan and violet that color shifts thrughout the day as the light changes. Great grower and bloomer too. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Montserrat', from 1923, is a lovely little flower with a very old fashioned form. Great fragrance, lovely lilac tones, good growth and reliable bloom. A really good garden #iris. 🌱 #bloomscrolling
Hey, hey, it's #Caturday! 🐈🤵♀️🐈⬛ Miss Pearl serving is lewks in her fancy tuxedo, and Miss Gingersnap is bringing fresh baked spicy goodness to the runaway. Even in their elder years my girls still got it.
'Montezuma's Ransom', from 1969, is a dense yellow self that just lights up the garden. It put on a spectacular show this past spring. Loads of blooms over a long period of time. Classed as a TB but it has always been BB in height for me. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
Momauguin', from 1964. This one is new for me and it really put on the show. The red-black falls are very velvety and the smokey red standards and gold heart just burn like an ember in the sunshine. I am already crazy about it. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Moki', from 1938, is one of only three left to us from this Seattle hybridizer. It's a nice smokey variegata. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Mission Trails', from 1958, is a lovely soft lilac blend. A bit of smokiness to the heart. Great grower and bloomer. Fairly rare. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Miss Aravilla' from 1936 is such a bright note in the garden. It lights up in the sunshine and just glows in bright gold and red. A long time favorite of mine. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Michelangelo', from 1936, is a different tone of purple than we usually see in old irises. Very different. Not the best grower and bloomer tho. But it has long been a favorite of mine. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Mexico', from 1943, is a richly colored fiesta of a flower. On the short side for a TB, but so pretty at the front of the border. Sadly not a strong grower or bloomer. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
A sleepy baby for #Caturday. Miss Gingersnap has really turned a corner on her health. She is no longer skin and bones. She looks and feels so fit and fluffy. Very happy for this rescue girl. It has been a long road. 🐈
'Melted Chocolate', from 1977, is so delightfully named. And such a good rich color as well. One of my favorites. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Maygold', from 1931' is a very nice intermediate that blooms early and lights up the garden. Bees love it too. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Marisha', from 1939, is a lovely soft pastel blend. A good grower and bloomer too. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Malay', from 1952, is bright as a copper penny in the garden. A good grower and bloomer, and such a rich color! #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Malacca Starits' from 1963 is a rich orange-brown with a bright dart of purple at the tip of the beard. A great grower and bloomer. Very eye-catching int he garden. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Loreley', from 1909. I don't normally grow Loreley, but had a pot of it in the garden this spring that decided to bloom for me. It is such a good variety. The individual blooms are messy, but a mass planting of it is stunning. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Lindbergh', from 1928, is such a fantastic garden iris. One of the most charming neglectas I have ever grown. The bloom just grabs the light and glows across the garden. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'Lavandulacea' , from 1854, is a sweet little variety. Classed as a TB but much smaller than today's tall ones. The blooms are daitny, and I love how the styles jut our of the heart of the flower. Bees love it oo. #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling
'K.V. Ayres', from 1931, is an excellent grower and bloomer. Colors are odd - light tan and lilac blended and shot thru with golden threads. The form leaves much to be desired, IMO. What do you think? #iris 🌱 #bloomscrolling.
