Detroit auto executives, as well as Michigan voters, have decided to kill off the U.S. automobile industry. If everyone agrees EVs are the future (and are increasingly the present) and if Detroit continues to insist on not building EVs...well you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.

Since taking over CBS News last fall, Weiss has actively shifted the network to the right in an apparent effort to capture some of the conservative audience that regularly watches Fox. At the same time, she wants to appeal to the supposed “70% of the audience that identifies themselves as center-left to center-right,” as her boss David Ellison asserted after he purchased her anti-woke blog The Free Press.

The problem is that her strategy appears to be driving an increasing number of CBS News’s core audience away while failing to attract any of Fox’s viewers. In fact, according to Nielsen data obtained by Zeteo, the news network’s weekday offerings are in danger of getting passed by Murdoch’s cable news programs head-to-head.

During July, ‘CBS Mornings’ averaged just 1.623 million total viewers per day, compared to the 1.436 million that ‘Fox & Friends’ pulled in for the month. The gap between the shows, now at 13%, has narrowed considerably. When Weiss became the head of the network, ‘CBS Mornings’ held a 26% advantage over Fox’s morning program. July was the lowest-rated month in ‘CBS Mornings’ history.

And while the summer months typically bring lower ratings for news shows, the gap between ‘CBS Mornings’ and ‘Fox & Friends’ is tighter than it was last July – when the CBS show held a 23% advantage.

Additionally, ‘CBS Evening News’ is on track for its worst month since Weiss installed Tony Dokoupil as its anchor, averaging just 3.814 million total viewers a night. It is also the fourth consecutive month that the program has attracted fewer than 4 million viewers.

When reached for comment, a CBS News spokesperson shared a Paramount press release boasting that ‘CBS Evening News’ was narrowly up 2% in total viewers compared to last year, which was the program’s worst July in history.

Top tier journalism here. In military parlance, this kind of correction for a journalist is the equivalent of an officer getting a Field Grade Article 15, in other words, usually a professionally catastrophic event.

CBS News ran a claim that "thousands of 9/11 victims' families" want Mamdani banned. The petition organizer told a journalist she has no actual list and the 300 figure was just an estimate. CBS News has since corrected its coverage
