As Dr. Dale Caldwell and I prepare to take office tomorrow, I want to take a moment to thank staff from our transition team for their extraordinary efforts to ensure we are ready to deliver for you on Day One. Let’s get to work, New Jersey!

Today, our cabinet nominees and members of our transition staff were proud to participate in community service projects across the state in honor of the life and legacy of Dr. King. Our work is grounded in a duty to serve and we look forward to building on these efforts to serve New Jerseyans.

This Day of Service, I was grateful to join volunteers and community members at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen to prepare meals and listen to residents. We must continue to honor Dr. King’s legacy with action and service to our communities.

It was wonderful to join so many Camden residents for a day of service at Yorkship Square and Fairview Village.

On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we commit to giving back to our communities and opening doors of opportunity in New Jersey – honoring Dr. King’s legacy and fight for justice.

Yesterday morning, Dr. Dale Caldwell and I were honored to kick off our inauguration weekend with an interfaith service at Kirkpatrick Chapel.

At the start of our transition, I announced an ambitious and collaborative policy process – launching Transition Action Teams, an Interdisciplinary Task Force, a bipartisan Local Government Advisory Group, and a public input survey.

I'm proud to nominate Lily Laux to be our next Commissioner of Education!   Lily is a lifelong public servant and teacher.
