Wrangler of goblin children. Book, craft and gardening dork. Bread wizard.

Ever since mom started realizing that sourdough is tasty and relatively inexpensive to make (well minus time and a growing array of accessories), she has started to see it as a new source of currency

My favorite way to hang out with friends in town is still to go run a totally mundane errand with them. Grocery run. Car wash. Random park with the kids. No pressure just a little company in the normal day to day

Today's loaf. An experiment in skipping cold proofing. It's great and a little more sour. Also adding a second steam after the initial bounce. Resulted in a baguette-texture of crust which was super nice I let the kid cut the ear today and I am so brave

Another load of sour dough

Our friend spent a week graciously and entertainingly teaching our older kid the art of sourdough and I think I need to go get the Costco pack of Kerrygold this week

We walked down pioneer square to the stadium to the CID and are now eating an inexplicable smoked duck dish that has really fantastic French fries which we are dipping in a bright green numbing spicy sauce while watching this game in Mandarin and it's everything

Cooking competitions need theme days like "kids birthday party" where you need to make frosting with a very enthusiastic and inquisitive kiddo and decorate a cake in half an hour while you get random texts from parents with last minute questions and requests

Look if the library has both copies open, my favorite way to consume a book is having both the audiobook and ebook and swapping between for fastest "getting this in my brain" time I think there are probably ways to have the two copies sync but I don't mind flipping and rereading

Pike Place Market is so much better to visit now that they've blocked traffic on the small section of street. Just so much more relaxed and people have more space to chill

There was a deer in our backyard and our senior dog, for once, actually realized it was there and started growling. Younger kid let him out There was no chance he was gonna get that deer but that baby's border collie roots were so happy for five seconds

My brother is remote shopping me through Costco one photo at a time and it is pretty funny as he stocks a cart full of things for mom to drag back to the states

My birthday party plan for the last two years for the now 11 year old is to let her pick like minded friends and two or three ridiculous Klutz Craft kits that I usually say are too messy and expensive and let them go to town on whatever slime/foam/clay thing they have been coveting
