Justified. Ancient. Drives an ice cream van.

I check out CDs on charity shops a lot, searching for a pearl on the flotsam and nests. An ever present one is the 1997 Candle In The Wind. I just saw three copies in one shelf. I'm considering now buying every copy I see to build the country's largest Candle In The Wind collection.

I reckon you could show me a two minute clip from any TV drama these days and I could guess with confidence if it was produced for BBC, ITV, C4, C5 or Netflix. I wouldn't be able to tell you why, but it just feels very obvious.

Half Man Half Biscuit sang 'there is nothing better than life than writing on the sole of a slipper with a biro' It's a fine activity, no doubt, but I'd also proffer wearing shorts to a gig. A rare delight.

In the same way, I could begrudgingly live with this summer's heat if it meant it stopped all references to 1976, I would have begrudgingly accepted England winning the world cup if it meant no more sodding references to 1966

"what will things be like in the future? Will we wear silver suits, have an entire meal in pill form, and drive flying cars?" "no, but the posters used to advertise every local fete, fayre, gig, quiz night, group, club or event will all be generic, near identical, and slightly yellow"
