A first look at the 2024 casualties map from the Landmine Monitor 2025. The report launches 1 December at 09:30 CET, just as States Parties gather in Geneva for the 22nd MSP. Stay tuned for new evidence on use, casualties, clearance, victim assistance, and global adherence to the Mine Ban Treaty.
Last year, 314 casualties from these bombs were registered worldwide, of which 193 were Ukrainians. This is stated in the annual report of the CMC – Cluster Munition Coalition.
Since #Russia’s full-scale invasion began, cluster munitions have caused over 1,200 civilian casualties in #Ukraine. Behind each number is a life forever changed, a family torn apart, a community living in fear. 👉 This is why the work to eradicate these indiscriminate weapons matters more than ever.
While progress is being made, the CMM Report reveals alarming setbacks: #Lithuania became the first country ever to withdraw from the Convention #ClusterMunitions continue to be used in conflicts in Myanmar, Russia, Syria, and Ukraine. #Civilians continue to pay the highest price. Discover more 👇
