I see Ann Widdecombe has died. When she was Home Secretary I showed her round Drake Hall womens’s prison. There was a pregnant woman on a bed in the early stages of Labour and she asked the prison officers why she wasn’t handcuffed to the bed. That’s the kind of woman she was.
Farage says this by-election is about taking on "the establishment". On the same day, Barnsley's Reform council has cut school uniform grants. Apparently "the establishment" means working-class kids - not his crypto-billionaire mates.
Back in April, Keir Starmer condemned the Tory government for having left him "uncosted and undeliverable" investment plans. He's now left a future PM with a £4.7bn budget gap. In New York, Mamdani closed an inherited $12bn budget deficit through a tax on luxury homes. We can and must do the same.

Globally, SUVs produce more CO2 than most individual countries. As cars get heavier they're also wearing down our roads more quickly. London and Paris are looking to charge higher costs to their drivers to mitigate their damage. Sheffield should be given the same power to do so too.

The Grenfell tower fire was criminal because it was entirely preventable. 72 people were killed by deregulation and institutional neglect. This is a monstrous thing to say. It also exposes something we have said for years: those who push deregulation know it kills - they just don't care.

Labour have come third in a seat we have represented for the best part of a hundred years. This is the clearest rejection of the leadership yet - and its rightward turn, smear campaigns, and spiteful blocking of Burnham. Starmer must resign or be removed today, or else risk our permanent collapse.
Drug decriminalisation is backed by public health evidence and harm-reduction principles. For a party of government to share something so deliberately inflammatory is not just irresponsible, but really dangerous. Policy should be driven by evidence, not fear-mongering.
If Labour lose the Gorton and Denton by-election, Keir Starmer obviously must resign as Prime Minister. This is a constituency that has consistently elected Labour MPs for decades. Responsibility for any loss will lie squarely at Starmer’s door.
Long overdue. This is a step in the right direction, but the Labour government needs a complete reset. Everyone implicated in the Mandelson scandal should stand down, from the top down.
There's so much wrong with this. Morgan McSweeney, Josh Simons, and Labour Together continually bring the party into disrepute. They all need to go.
