We had a great last day in P2/1 playing games with our friends. The year has flown by. It has been a pleasure to spend the year together and teach this wonderful class. Have a great summer everyone!

We began Health week with a fun football training session with coaches from Bo’ness United and a scavenger hunt with buddies in P6! @missbeattie-dps.bsky.social #DPSHealthWeek
So proud of everyone in P2/1 for all their effort in our class assembly today. 😀 Thank you to parents/carers who joined us for our sharing our learning session in class on the topic of animals!
We enjoyed exploring the Dean burn this morning, noticing, listening and litter picking. We are grateful to Mr Shave who helped us make our very own special litter pickers in woodwork earlier this term.
A super team of litter pickers, doing our bit to protect our local environment for wildlife. #ResponsibleCitizens #makingadifference
Lots of smiles and fun at the safari park last week!
We enjoyed working with P6 buddies to learn how to find information by searching on the internet. We were learning about David Attenborough who just celebrated his 100th birthday and his love of animals! Thank you P6! @missbeattie-dps.bsky.social
Pupils have been interested in learning about different countries. This week we explored famous landmarks and pupils used different resources to recreate them.
It’s the time of year for learning about planting, growing and looking after plants. Pupils planted sunflower seeds🌻 and designed a scientific experiment with cress seeds 🌱to prove what plants need to grow. Ask us about it!
We enjoyed showing our knowledge of nocturnal animals by drawing and labelling them using the chalk on a beautiful day last week.
P1 pupils practised spelling common words correctly and practised their cutting skills at the same time.
Thank you to our buddies in P6 @missbeattie-dps.bsky.social who helped us develop digital skills this afternoon, recording sound for our owl models using Chatterpix and adding background for our owl characters using mark up skills. #Technologies #digitalskills #learningleaders
Pupils enjoyed some food technology as part of our Book Week activities, practising their chopping and spreading skills to make these cute and delicious rice cracker owls. 🦉 Yum!😋
‘Books, biscuits and a beverage’ was definitely a highlight of our Book Week!
During Book Week we have enjoyed exploring the story ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson as our focus book.
We really enjoyed unwrapping our surprise book for Book Week! Thank you to our Reading Ambassadors! #DPSBookWeek2026
5 4 3 2 1 Blast off! Wrapping up our learning on the topic on Space, pupils enjoyed following a set of instructions carefully to make their own space helmets!
We’ve been learning about halves and quarters in Numeracy this week. We love it when we can eat our Maths! 🥞
We really enjoyed a pantomime performance of ‘Treasure Island’ this morning. Ahoy there!
We have been astounded every morning to see how fast our Amaryllis bulb is growing! We have been developing estimating and measuring skills to work out how tall it has grown. #reallifemaths
We enjoyed Maths through stories using the story ‘The Doorbell rang’ by Pat Hutchins. As more friends arrived we talked about how to share the cookies fairly so everyone had the same amount. Lots of counting, sharing and problem solving with cookies! 🍪 #Mathsthroughstories
Our Primary 2 pupils enjoyed using the ‘Author’s chair’ to share their writing with the class. We all loved hearing their instructions for making a disgusting sandwich!
Well done to all pupils who recited their Scots poem to the class today. I was very impressed with everyone’s effort, enthusiasm and expression. Special congratulations to our three finalists! 👏👏👏
We have been enjoying gymnastics in PE lessons with Mrs King, practising our jumping, landing and balancing skills.
It’s always great when one of our classmates reads us a story!
