Shocked to be in my 84th year. Lifelong blue voter, though I don't post or comment about politics, just cats, nature, photos, gardens, food. Buddhist, lapsed meditator, but still trying (often failing) to live the teachings of the Dhamma. Go Ducks!
Happening here starting today. Rising T&F stars will be fun to watch. Probably on Peacock, though I didn't check yet. Hope the air clears for them soon! worldathletics.org/competitions...

Nasty here today! Went to Walmart wearing good N95 mask for particulates, gone less than an hour, on the bus or in the store most of that time, and now I have irritated bronchials. I've been out in much worse, w/o a mask, and felt it less.
Well, this was fun. Arrived in a box late yesterday, started putting it together this morning, with a very curious supervisor nearby. As soon as I walked away, he hopped in.
I dared a short walk, with N95 mask. Inside for the day now.
Today's outlook. From 56 to 96, AQI 156. Outside only to water garden, with N95 mask. Apple needs to make getting a screenshot and saving to jpg easier! Had to take a photo of the screen with the phone. Absurd!
The crud (wildfire smoke) is upon us. Not bad yet. Not complaining though, too many people dealing with a lot more than this. Iโll be staying inside for a couple of days.
Aerial view of sleeping cat. He looks so sweet here, so unlike the angry cat who was attacking me at bedtime last night. He wishes everyone a good night. Sleep well.
Took advantage of the last cool morning for a few days, and walked to the grocery this morning. Dawdled a bit to get some pics of the river as I passed by. And an Osprey sitting on the edge of a platform nest.
The look Iโm getting when he thinks itโs time for lunch and I disagree. He settled down in my lap as I started writing this. Waiting.
One last effort for #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDark This is not a shooting star, merely the full moon setting over the ocean a little north of Brookings, OR. By the time I talked myself into going for a drive in the middle of the night, I was almost too late to catch it over the water.
Dahlia season is upon us in the garden. I was playing with a new trick on the camera that worked this morning but not with these. Alas
Spencer wants everyone to know what a good boy he's been this week. Let me sleep until after 5 am twice, and didn't get too upset when I accidentally tried to starve him for a couple of days. See AltText for more about that! Happy #Caturday
Just found this oldie on my iPad. Early morning in a dark room, but happy in his basket. A light behind him makes his white hair shine. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDark
Lap cat helping me test the camera on my new iPad. Old one is almost 6 years old, and dying, so this is a big upgrade.
Almost forgot to post this today. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDark, and also for #ColorADay Red Wednesday. I take a lot of pics of this intersection at night when the pavement's wet because I love the way it reflects.
Cat friends, we need help! I need a new/better way to take Spencer out of the building and especially on the bus for a vet visit, now that I'm car-less. I'm looking at either a carrier on wheels, or a stroller. We had a stroller once and that might be best, but??? Open to ideas.
This guy is exhausted! A rough hour outside in the carrier with some new men to hiss at. Scheduled fire alarm test that didnโt happen and nobody came out to tell us. He was pretty calm considering. I think heโs out for the night now.
Finally starting to get some color on my San Marzano tomatoes. These were slower growing than the cherry tomatoes, which are going gangbusters.
Imagine my shock when I walked down to the first floor early one morning, probably to do laundry, and spotted this in the dark community room. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDark
From 2023, one of my many experiments wandering the neighborhood in the pre-dawn hours with camera (phone, probably) in hand. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDark
Serious desk cuddle time this morning, after a few days of being standoffish. Snoring and a bit farty, and my arm was numb, but still soft and cuddly. Something outside woke him seconds after this, but he's still here, just stretched out.
The resident mischief maker has been sleeping soundly all morning after an apparently satisfactory breakfast. He is, however, aware that itโs Churu time. Happy #Caturday !
I love the morning glow of sunrise. At the ponds this morning.
The curvy ramp from the street onto the bike/pedestrian bridge at one end of the ponds. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekCforCurves
The little prince on his throne says good night. Such a life!
Our short heat wave has receded, for awhile. A cloudy morning offered a nice walk and flower photos along the river loop. The Willamette, always lovely! And some wildflowers. Finally a decent chicory shot, with mullein in the background.
I was fascinated by these fish on display in a shop in Napa. Not sure when -- metadata not useful but possibly 2009. Gentle curves. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekCforCurves
