Fabulous first half—one of the best of the entire World Cup, imo. What is not so fabulous? Mexico fans with their homophobic “Puto” chant every time England take a goal kick. FIFA continues to choose to look the other way, ignoring its own stated anti-discrimination principles. More FIFA corruption.

Tonight FIFA squandered an opportunity to stand up homophobia in football. Instead, when fans chanted the homophobic “puto” chant, FIFA did nothing. FIFA ignored its *own guidelines* to follow a 3-step protocol to 1) pause, 2) suspend, & 3) abandon play, if necessary. FIFA’s word means so little.
