with @slices.network and @microcosm.blue Constellation offering easy indexing on the atmosphere, we’re getting close to a point where forks of the official bluesky client can augment it with non-trivial new features without running their own backend
Minor update to the spec: Unicode can now be used in the short colon-delimited aliases, the rkey of records should be a punycode approximation of it. Will be releasing a new version of the facet soon which enables this (as well as the emoji management webapp, hopefully! 🤞🏼)
This is so unbelievably cool -- 3rd party client that uses @moji.blue custom emoji for reactions!!! Not sure how to add new ones yet, but maybe it means I need to finish that Bluemoji uploading/editing/management interface... 👀

Update on RFC-001: Sharing has been dropped from first release and moved to a separate proposal. Fallback character has been dropped in favour of simply always using the alias text when the image can't be displayed. See: github.com/aendra-rinin...

Apologies for the lack of progress on Bluemoji recently, I've had a bunch of stuff to get through with three other projects before I can fully turn my attention it. At this point I'm hoping to incorporate some of the excellent feedback on the RFC and release v1 of the spec in the next two months. 💚

The fact that this is an open platform where you can try wild moonshot ideas like this (I'm not on the Bluesky team, I'm just a simple gal who likes emoji and hates Twitter screenshots) is a hugely underrated aspect of this place. Can you imagine trying to build something like this on *Threads*? 🙅🏼♀️
ændra.@aendra.com · 2y agoI'm nearing the first release of Bluemoji, thanks to everyone who's contributed feedback, it's extremely appreciated as I've not done anything this major architecturally before. 🙏 I've made a bunch of changes this version, most notably adding dotLottie support; please look if you plan to implement!
If you're playing with this, apols, I've changed something so anything you've uploaded will disappear from this because I was using the wrong lexicon ID for new items (please create new Bluemoji records in the blue.moji.collection.item collection, not the previous blue.moji.collection collection.)
