Reflecting on a great trip to Mexico City earlier this month to attend the opening of 100 Alfarerxs Dijeron at Gallery Taller 36. This bowl lined with porcelain sunflower seed heads has stayed in the city and is viewable as a part of the exhibition until March 16th.

A studio shot from 2024 showing me putting the finishing touches on two pieces for my resident show “flora/fauna”. The composition of floral elements can be painstakingly tedious but the product makes it feel worth it.
These sorts of sculptural forms serve as the frameworks on which I add my burnout castings. Making these large forms and trying to imagine how they’ll transform is one of my favorite parts of the process.
Some notes on my process- I source plants from outside of my studio and dip them in porcelain. After they are fired and the plant burns away, I’m left with a clay casting of the former organic object.
