So che può sembrare folle, ma ancora non siamo al picco di questa ennesima ondata di calore. Oggi, lunedì, si sono registrate diffusamente temperature prossime o localmente superiori ai 40 °C, in particolare in Sardegna e sulle regioni centrali, in Emilia Romagna e sul Triveneto. 1/7

4h now. Didn't push the stretching and colour as far as I could have. Something's gone wrong with the flats. I have been using a drawing screen as a makeshift flat screen. It works well but for the Askar 60F I generally put a white t-shirt in front of it before taking the flats (1/2)

#C64 #Delphian progress: life's been a bit up and down recently, but it's okay now. So, did a bit more work on the game, getting the star chart to work. I can now select a destination star system (that's in range) and jump there. Still some optimisation to do, but here's how it's looking so far...

1/ The Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae are summer classics, but from my latitude they stay very low above the horizon, buried in Milan’s light-pollution dome. I can image them for only a few weeks between June and July, and barely two hours per night. 🔭 #Astrophotography

At long last, astronomers have firm evidence that Betelgeuse, one of the most famous stars in the night sky, is not alone. Using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (ESO's VLT), a team led by French researcher Miguel Montargès obtained the clearest image ever of what likely is Betelgeuse B, the star orbiting Betelgeuse. “This is the conclusion of a century-long quest,” says Montargès.

First two hours of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, this year. Taken last night. The moon is getting kind of bright so I'm not unhappy at all with how it came out. If all goes well I'll be on holiday next month and I'll be able to add more hours to it.
