the left has to abandon the idea that the system could be changed just by putting the right people on top. the issue isn't any representative of the ruling class, the issue is the ruling class at large. even the most well-intentioned individual couldn't change the system by participating in it.
community is the best survival strategy in the face of state repression. the urge to hide and isolate oneself is completely understandable but it's important to resist it. they want us isolated and terrified so we'd best not give them what they want.

yes, but also this is just how mental illness often expresses itself in a lot of socially isolated young men. so the cause is a convergence of mental illness and fascist ideology like we've seen for decades, it's just the form thats different
