We've applied for a Coastal Communities Fund grant to help repair our rear gallery roof - but we need your help! The public decides who will be awarded funding, so we'd love it if you could spare a few minutes to view for us!

In 1860s fossil trackways were found in the OId Red Sandstone rocks at Tarbat Ness, Scotland. Body fossils had been found in rocks around Moray which Dr Joass, geologist and cartoonist, the dispute showed by mocking geologists of the period. #Oldredsandstone #historyofgeology #ichnology
Holoptychius nobilissimus held in Elgin Museum. This fossil fish was found in 1882 in Old Red Sandstone which was just a few metres below an unconformity with Upper Permian reptile fossil bearing rocks above, Cutties Hillock Quarry, Moray.
Counting down to the opening of Elgin Museum in Miniature!
Permian stem mammals tracks in Hopeman Sandstone Formation. Tracks here in aeolian sandstone, of the larger animals, don't get much better than this. #ichnology #permian #tracks #dicynodonts #elginmuseum
Another stem-mammal trackway from the Hopeman sandstones. Numbering, lower left, means this block will soon be off to Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, warmer than Moray! #ichnology #permian
Freezing water puddles create circular forms but a frozen muddy puddle creates angular forms, something to do with the clay minerals? Must be!
Aeolian deposit, Hopeman Sandstone Formation. Remarkable how much detail of very small Permian reptilian footprints can be preserved in a damp siltstone substrate. #Ichnology #Permian
2 tracks in Hopeman Sandstone Formation, Elgin, Scotland. Small Permian reptile trackway overidden by larger reptile. Same day, same morning?, big animal chasing the smaller one?? #ichnology #permian
In-situ late Permian stem-mammal trackway in the Hopeman Sandstone Formation, Elgin, Scotland.
