I just went on SSDI... and found out they are kicking me off Medicaid. (THEY miscalculated my income for this year, so this is not over yet... BUT... imagine having a terminal illness like MBC and hearing you no longer have health insurance when your SSDI amount each month will only be $1,645.)

Meanwhile, a new study from Yale estimates that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year. If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have universal healthcare.

People having to recertify 2x year on Medicaid is unsustainable. By design, it was written to throw people off the program. There’s no increase in staff to handle an increase in recertification which the onus and burden is put on the states. Absolutely despicable.

Time changes shape when it is measured not in vacations or promotions or retirement plans, but in scan dates, infusion schedules, pathology reports, and the quiet calculations you do before every holiday, every birthday, every milestone, every ordinary day. Nine (9) years of living with terminal cancer means I can no longer divide my life neatly into before and after. Cancer has threaded itself into everything long ago. It moved into the house with us.
