Cowardly writer. Aspiring procrastinator. Island dweller. Working on stuff and striving to finish. Also, gaming. Photography. And whatever feels right. 日本はなんだか快適~

Writing the first draft on day 1: "My inner writer thinks they're an editor. How cute!" Writing the first draft on day 832: "No, it doesn't matter that you used 'I gazed' three sentences ago." "NO, you DON'T need more words describing smell!" "Why are we back at chapter two?!" #WritingCommunity

I try not to make barriers to my writing. Having the perfect time or mind space... But there are moments when opening a manuscript feels like stepping out over an abyss. Writing, by nature, is transcribing a part of ourselves. The act can be cozy, but sometimes I'd prefer a warm hug. #Booksky

That feeling of finding the perfect book. The one that inspires. That you can't put down until you've devoured it cover to cover; like it's been waiting for you the whole time, and once you know it, you can't imagine yourself having not read it. It feeds one hunger, and creates another. #Booksky

Do people using AI for writing or image generation for anything other than personal use actually want to create? Where is the joy? Is it simply a means to an end? Once the person is removed from the process, it ceases being art. The whole thing just seems so empty, vapid and useless.

Having my protagonist trudge through the desert while rocks and sand pummel them mercilessly from all sides is somehow the perfect metaphor for the whole writing process. My hero needs a dune buggy or something...

I have seen some idiots defending the Valnet “pay per session” model as a meritocracy for writers when it is actually, very obviously, a machine explicitly designed to destroy writing. Paying people based on raw traffic financially incentivizes the fastest most disposable sludge imaginable

So, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie was one big sugary rush to get from one scene to the next, with references and nostalgia replacing anything resembling tension, and with only enough plot to fill roughly half of its super-padded run-time. ...and I still had a smile on my face the whole time #Mario
