A really good morning on my Morton Bagot patch: 5 Spotted Flycatchers, Tree Pipit, 2 Redstarts, 2 Whinchats, first Meadow Pipit of the autumn, Lesser Whitethroat, and three Stonechats. #PWC2026. What a shame the #WestMidsAllDayer can't be the West Midlands All Weekender!
Earlswood Lakes is on 70 at 13:00. Highlights are Barn Owl, YLGull, Yellow Wagtail, Hobby, Swift, and Wheatear #WestMidsAllDayer

Earlswood Lakes is on fire lately. This Little Tern found by John O was the first there since 2011. #PWC2026
A nice trio of dragonflies at Earlswood Lakes this afternoon. The former is the first for the site, and the latter the first since 2019.
A Tundra Bean Goose turned up at Morton Bagot, first for site. Probably the long-staying Bittell bird although I don't think its been seen since January. #PWC2026
After no moths on the GMS last Friday, this time 64 of 39 species including 23 nfy and 1 nfg restored my faith. The standout was my first ever Small Mottled Willow. Also Twin-barred Knot-horn was only my second. #Teammoth

After a great deal of angst I saw the surprisingly elusive Turnstone at Earlswood this afternoon. Thanks to the finder John Oates. Definitely 10k patch gold as its only the third record for the site (or anywhere within 10k of my house) #PWC2026
#MortonBagot re-entered the #westmidsalldayer yesterday and after many collective hours in the field got to a decent score of 66 species. I even got a #PWC2026 Yellow Wagtail for my year list.
Big thanks to Mike Lane for letting me know he'd found a Marsh Harrier at Morton Bagot this morning. It was the first here since 2021 so qualifies as patch gold. #PWC2026

An excellent March was concluded with a Wheatear at Mappleborough Green today. The last 10 days have included two patch gold Morton Bagot ticks; Egyptian Geese and Cetti's Warbler (both first for the site) #PWC2026 I heard the Cetti's nine days after ringers caught it.
