ecology 🌿 art Chelsea - she/her/any MKE www.mossquail.com
Posting at very weird hours but I'm so tired and so excited because I've been prepping to host a huge event with MKE Artists for months now and is today!!! Getting a few hours of nap time in before the big day 😴
Teaching my buddy to lino print today so I am forced to abandon my neverending administrative tasks and actually work on creating something Initially was gonna do a design of my cat but wasn't feeling it, so sturgeon it is 🐟
Sure, I'll do a terrible comic. Love having a weirdo in my home, I truly never know where she'll be next time I look at her
#repostyourart day 15 - soft 🧡 our girl Peach is the softest sweetest little critter, softer than any angel can sing
Getting back into it and going to try to catch up this week! #repostyourart day 14 - yummy c: I haven't drawn any food in a while but a few years back I did some pieces of art of some of my favorite foods and I really enjoyed making them c: I should try drawing food again sometime!
#repostyourart day 13- artist! here's a selfie from a couple years ago, for the past few years I've volunteered as a face painter at a local nature festival and it's always a great time. I love seeing kids' faces light up when they see the result!
#repostyourart day 12 - Cozy 🧡 before I was treated for depression it was important for me to have mood trackers every month, and I would try to make cute themes like this one. Now that I don't need to, I've switched to doing 'covers' for each month, like the hummingbird moth from day 3!
#repostyourart day 11 - sparkles! This was a piece I did for Artfight a couple years ago, an art trade game that I always want to get into more than I actually have time for :') this was SUCH a fun character though, I had a great time drawing it!!
#repostyourart day 10 - pencil! I don't do a lot of colored pencil work just because it takes longer than I usually have the patience for, but here's a piece I did a few years back of my cat Juniper. It was fun despite taking a LOT of time to layer all that color in!
Day 9 #repostyourart - light! Here's a collection of lit jack-o-lanterns I've designed and carved in previous years :) I love carving intricate designs but haven't had the time to do it the past couple of years, I have to put aside some dedicated time for it this fall!
#repostyourart day 8 - autumn 🧡 This is one part of a larger piece that I created for our annual Halloween party invitations in 2024! My wife usually comes up with a fun seasonal poem and a clever way to structure the invitations, and I usually collaborate on imagery and/or assembly.
#repostyourart day 7, silly My buddy Kayla's mom has the skrungkliest looking dog I've ever seen in my life and I love him so much. She commissioned this from me a few years ago and apparently her mom still has it framed in her home which is incredible to me
#repostyourart day 6 - Bird! I have so many potential options for this prompt since birds are some of my most common subjects. This is a marker/gouache piece from last year, my first time working with alcohol markers. I learned a lot!
Oop I fell behind :') #repostyourart day 5, Mountain - Manido Falls in the Porcupine Mountains of upper MI. I've been doing plein-aire paintings of waterfalls for years now, and I always look forward to spending a few hours trying to capture the textures and movement of the water over the rocks.
#repostyourart day 5: cat/dog - a Christmas gift to my parents of their dog Sam 💚 I loved painting his fur texture! Acrylic on canvas, 2023
A bit off schedule, but I wanted to make sure to get out a post for #repostyourart day 3: Spring! I made this last year as a bullet journal cover, featuring some of my favorite spring ephemerals (details in alt text) and the Clearwing Snowberry moth. I can't wait to see these blooms again 💚
#repostyourart challenge day 2 - Bloom! This is a more recent piece I haven't posted online yet, a linocut print of Trillium grandiflorum, one of Wisconsin's most iconic spring ephemeral flowers. I'm so looking forward to them blooming soon!
I made a new art challenge for reposting your art! The challenge is to find existing works that fits the prompts (get creative!) - no new work needed! woho!! Starting April 1st I will be reposting existing art based on these prompts!! All artists welcome to join :) #repostyourart
I'm so bad at posting on social media and ever since my brand change my accounts have been pretty bare, so I'm gonna be doing the #repostyourart challenge to finally show off some older stuff! The first prompt was "hello," this used to be my icon and I would dress it up for different holidays c:
late on these, as always, I'll finish em up tomorrow though!!
I love gay cardinal season but let's give the lesbian cardinals their flowers
