Another of the rarer visitors this morning - a Pine Beauty. Most of my catches have been Hebrew characters plus scarcer or earlier than usual varieties - not complaining! #teammoth

Three species that are scarce in our garden - Chocolate tip, Chamomile shark and Streamer. Also my first two diamond-backs of the year.

Not catching much and mostly common and small quakers and clouded drab. However, last Thursday I found a grey shoulder-knot on the kitchen wall. It was there again on Friday morning. It's not been there since but today it's back in exactly the same place! #teammoth

At last a decent catch (12 from 8sp) but only two NFY - double-striped pug and oak beauty. One of the pale brindled beauties displayed a fine moustache, hardly visible on t'other.

Pleased to find the pearly underwing yesterday - a couple of years since I've seen one; accompanied by a dark sword grass. This morning was a rush veneer but also the figure of eight is not common here. Hale, VC59

Decidedly autumnal this morning with two sp of Sallow, Small Bloodvein and Large Wainscot, with two Pale Mottled Willows and a Rusty-dot Pearl adding migrant interest. Setaceous now down to 209 - much more manageable! #teammoth #mothsmatter

A gradual build-up of Setaceous Hebrew Characters but this morning every box was the same; totalling 624. Managed to find 46 other species - nothing exciting though. Low on migrants (2 Rusty-dot Pearls) after a steady stream over the last week. #teammoth

Hale Village, Halton. Nomophila noctuella (Rush Veneer), a Dark Sword-grass, Bordered Straw,& 3 Silver Y were the migrants that popped by o'night. Out of 80 species Double Lobed and a second Yarrow Plume stood out. #teammoth

Yesterday was a good morning for unusual/pretty moths: Gem, Shark, Garden Tiger, Peach Blossom and Plain Golden Y.

70 species recorded today for first time since 2022 but only 199 moths 🤣 Usually when I've recorded over 70 species the total number has been higher - not complaining though! Highlight was this NFG no Gilleria sp, probably Yarrow plume. Only migrants was pale mottled willow. #teammoth

IOW moths - Good to be part of the south coast migrant-fest even for a short period - Delicate, Bordered Straw, Dark Sword-grass and White Point in good numbers. Also a few beauties I seldom see up north - Black Arches, Privet hawk, Rosy Footman and Bordered Beauty.#teammoth

Following yesterday's usual bumper crop after the heavy rain, today I was down 18 species and 161 moths. The fact that SHC's were down from 111 to 12 was some compensation. But where are those 99 Setaceous now, I wonder?

I have a Robin with expensive tastes. In one night he had a puss moth, pale tussock and two elephant hawk-moths: wings found dotted about the garden. Carnage in the box too. After several nights without trap all is quiet: except the wasps have found it... A long summer ahead. #teammoth

Ran two traps last night with nothing special until last box: peppered moth, pale prominent and May highflier. Only my 2nd 'buff' white ermine but a striking moth. #teammoth

Currant clearwing found on blackcurrants in garden yesterday. A quiet night in the trap with only 14 common species. #teammoth

Chuffed to get my first new moth this year; they really are getting harder to come by. Certainly didn't expect this moorland species down here near the Mersey Estuary. Light knot grass.

Heading north into Bay of Biscay with over 100 common dolphins seen with a couple of striped dolphins. Moths on board over night double-striped pug and I presume this is an oak nycteoline. #teammoth

Poor moth-wise but some interesting things in/from the garden - grey partridge, violet, peacock and tapered drone-fly.

Black burying beetle (not dead, I promise)was the best of the trap this morning. Buff- tailed bumblebee in there too. Not much on the moth-front after the two NFY yesterday: chestnut and 3 early thorns. #mothsmatter #teammoths
