Hi 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m still here! And I’d like to thank my friend Jonathan for taking time (over a year ago!) to record this episode with me on US Army Engineers in the Second World War — an important part of the story that the series hasn’t covered yet. Links in comments below or search for “Why We Fight”

Went to Helsinki 🇫🇮 today to apply for a new passport with my new name and this man, who drove 3+ hours in snow to accompany me, uttered two of my favorite questions: Would you like to get something to eat? and Would you like to visit a used bookstore? 🥹 Folks — NEVER. SETTLE. ❤️

This was such an awesome pod with @motheroftanks.bsky.social . I generally rate a pod on whether I listen to it all the way through during a workout or run. This was my number one for that test this year.

#YearInReview one of my favorite activities this year was an off-the-wall examination of the foo fighter phenomenon in WWII with @motheroftanks.bsky.social: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...

Your service matters. Your reasons for serving matter. Those who inspired, and shaped, and mentored you matter. Those who came before, those who paved the way, those who broke through barriers and glass ceilings, and those who fought to but were held back by the times — matter.

The Army deleted my “Why I served” video where I talked about how I decided I wanted to attend West Point/join the Army after one of the cadets my family used to sponsor died in combat. Probably deleted because she was the first black woman to be CSM at West Point.

I’d like to thank Nate Jennings, Jason Boswell, and Tim Gilhool for helping provide some back history that builds deeper understanding and appreciation for the combat and logistical situations throughout 1944, and I’d like to thank Bill Nance for a great episode, this time on Army Groups & Command.

I’d also like to thank Myra Miller for sharing her experience researching her father’s WWII service, and how that led to her work as a historian and founder of Footsteps Researchers. Links in the comments below or search for “Why We Fight ~ 1944” on whichever podcast streaming platform you use.

@motheroftanks.bsky.social and @briankerg.bsky.social continue to be the best example of mutual support between soldiers and Marines!

I'd like to thank @briankerg.bsky.social for another great episode, this time talking about the Battle of Saipan and some leadership challenges the US Army & US Marine Corps faced in the Pacific in 1944. #WhyWeFight1944 #ArmyHistory #USMCHistory #NavyHistory #MilitaryHistory #WWII #Podcast
