Sebastian was sickly as a little boy and also suffered from asthma that he mostly grew out of, treated w/ Poison As an adult he rarely gets sick but he’s in the era of pharmaceuticals where laudanum and cocaine are OTC. Tragically this is also the bloodletting era. So. Unconscious for One Week.

Uh oh! Your original character has gotten sick! How is their immune system? Do they get sick easily, or are they very fit? How do they take care of themselves when they're ill? Do they get help? #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

Thinking about how many fantasy stories put elves in a period of decline for some reason in their settings (myself included) but I suspect it’s because if you make them a highly advanced magical civilization of quasi-immortal scholar folk it’s hard to justify them not being the dominant species

I mean in the sense that it develops the plot to give all four some level of combat PTSD, but also that their experiences with bad relationships with other people inform their choices? And that’s often “for worse” but it’s not l bc I need a punching bag but because it would make it more interesting

Be honest. Did you traumatize your original character for the sake of character development? Was it for better or for worse? #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY
