Advances in fibrostenotic Crohn’s Disease - what information is hidden up-stream of the stricture out of reach of the endoscope ? A recent prospective study involving 28 Crohn’s Disease (CD) patients explored the potential of cine-MRI to non-invasively characterise stricture subtypes: 👇

Are both of the arrows pointing to #crohnsdisease? You have 5 seconds.. 🤔 The MRI below shows thickening of the bowel wall at the terminal ileum 💭 There is also a thickened bowel loop on the top left ...both #crohns? ⏱️ 5..4..3..2..1.. #ddw25 attendees did you guess correctly? #ddw2025 #IBD

Imaging in fibrostenotic Crohn's Disease - What you need to think about (post 3/3) What many people don't realise is that FSCD has a large functional component that makes sense conceptually but is not often talked about (beyond pain!).
Imaging in fibrostenotic Crohn's Disease - what you need to do (post 2/3) Motilent have been working with precision imaging for a long time now. Here's how we tackle fibrostenotic Crohn's disease. 1. Use the right tools 2. Capture with an integrated report 3. Keep all your data in 1 place
Imaging in fibrostenotic Crohn's Disease - what you need to know (post 1/3) It's hard to reach with endoscopy, biopsy captures a superficial aspect of the lesion and patient symptoms are often non-specific and modifiable by diet - making patient reported outcomes (PRO) difficult to use. #IBD
We've been looking at J-Pouch this week... now for some pictures! On the left is a asymptomatic pouch that was not distended by oral contrast during MRI & the right, a symptomatic pouch which is distended & showing strong contractile behaviour. #IBD
Yesterday we posted about J-pouch - so, why are we talking about this? At #ECCO25, UCL presented a fascinating study on J-pouch motility, revealing that patients with ileo-anal pouches exhibit higher pouch contractility than controls measured using motility MRI.
What happens when someone has their entire colon and rectum removed? 🤔 For those with severe colorectal disease, removing the colon & rectum may be necessary. There are typically 2 options: Ileostomy redirects the ileum to an external stoma, requiring a bag or J-Pouch; an internal reconstruction
FIBROTARGET GAM#3 wrap-up! Interested in what we discussed at the FIBROTARGET General Assembly meeting last week in Milan? Discover our key takeaways in our web article! 📰Read our full wrap-up➡️ loom.ly/VDN6Fx4 📹Watch our highlights video below⬇️
How do we identify and measure fistulasing Crohn's diease? ⭐️ MRI is the gold standard for diagnosing and monitoring perianal Crohn's disease, but assessing fistula characteristics can be complex.
Buongiorno from the @fibrotarget.bsky.social General Assembly meeting in Milan! It’s been an exciting start to the meeting we’ve already covered advancements in #fibrosis biomarker characterisation, imaging and how to quantify this and began laying the foundation for an upcoming clinical trial!
FIBROTARGET GAM: Day 1 at Humanitas University in Milan Day 1 highlights: ✅ Patient insights from EFCCA ✅ New fibrosis biomarker research 🔬 ✅ Cutting-edge imaging 🏥 ✅ Laying the groundwork for a clinical trial 🏆 More soon—stay tuned! 🔍
Spotlight on: CIPO! What is CIPO? Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction is a complex disorder characterised by severe impairment of intestinal motility, resulting in mechanical bowel obstruction without any physical blockage.
What’s better than bowel wall thickness? Bowel wall volume! 👉 Volumetric MRI measurements may be a game-changer for tracking inflammation in pediatric Crohn’s disease. Dr Betul E. Derinkuyu et al compared volumetric vs linear measurements in children with newly diagnosed ileal Crohn’s 🧵⬇️
R&D from China produces exciting, paradigm rattling results and not just in Artificial General Intelligence but also perianal Crohn’s Disease. But beware, some aren’t happy about it. ⬇️
💡 Spotlight on perianal (fistulising) Crohn's on Entrolytics - How do we assess treatment response? One patient Two time points Three ways to assess treatment response Let's take a look on Entrolytics 👇
Entrolytics is the operating system for modern gastroenterology. It's the platform where multimodality data can be uploaded, held securely, analysed and communicated across a range of settings from research, clinical trials and clinical practice. Here's what you may have missed from 2024..... 🧵👇
Post-surgical ileus is very common, it's where the bowel stops working after surgery. This abstract shows that despite the name "ileus" suggesting a lack of movement, an increase in peristaltic activity was found ⬇️ Alex Menys presenting Sa1184: Observing hyperactive colon in post-operative Ileus
Hello from the Motilent team! 👋 It's our end of year review meeting today (...and brunch!)
Below, a patient with moderate #UlcerativeColitis (seen w/endoscopy) showing clear transmural changes & patchy transmural involvement on MRI. It's taken until 2024 for transmural disease to feature in UC clinical trials and it's only due to an push from gastros using intestinal ultrasound👇
