#OnThisDay 125 years ago Assistant Commissioner Edward Henry set up the Met's Fingerprint Department. Its system was based on the work of Hem Chandra Bose and Qazi Azizul Haque in the Bengal Police, of which Henry had been the head. Our #Forensics125 show in September will mark the anniversary. #OTD

Jack Bousfield was born in New South Wales, Australia in 1911, and joined the Metropolitan Police aged 21. During #WWII he served in the RAFVR as an air-gunner with 83 and 50 Squadrons, becoming the first London police officer to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross. #policehistory #AnzacDay

My favourite is Operation Sheepskin (The Bay of Piglets) when 2 Para occupies Anguilla after it declares indpendence from St Kitts and Nevis only to be greeted as liberators becuase the locals declared indpedence so they could return to British rule
