LSCE and UMSA are conducting a campaign to measure vertical profiles and total columns of CO2, CH4 and CO in Bolivia, with logistical support from IRD, and support from ESA, ICOS-France, OBS4CLIM. The measurements aimed in particular at validating space-based measurements of CO2, CH4 and CO.

European ICOS stations observed significant increases in CO concentrations. This was due to air masses overflying fires in Canada. Interestingly, CO2 shows a negative anomaly: air masses have also flew over areas active in photosynthetic Carbon uptake, offsetting the CO2 emissions caused by fires.

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌷Science has been profoundly shaped by the contributions of women. But gender equality is daily work. Scientific organisations everywhere play their part in making sure women are given equal opportunities - not just today, but every day. #InternationalWomensDay
