Time to apply a first layer (=primer). Don’t want to glue the canopy yet. Somewhat in doubt what’s the best way to mask the interior. Guess i have to use this silicon masking putty although it’s not my favourite material to work with 🤔

Travelling & marriage endurance: mrs driving 🚗 and me doing the navigation 🧭 using a map 😳 - all went well, we reached our destination and we are still married 😅
Arghhh, travel like a pirate…
A medieval gate, built between 1380 and 1425 and given this current appearance after the 1885/1886 restoration. As a resident of the city in question, I almost see it daily without giving it a second thought. However as a tourist, I might have taken countless pictures 📸
Came by and saw the water tower (built in 1897 - 1898) in Zwijndrecht (NL). Beautiful building but I never paid attention to that building when I lived in that area many years ago. Maybe worth a visit next time once the tower is open for public.
Airbrushed the DC-10, several metal colours coming later. Painting 🖌️ larger areas in my childhood didn’t went well, enamel paint didn’t cover and started to drip. Went better now using the airbrush. Less layers would do if I choose to do pre shading making the base layers shining through.
Painting 🖌️ a spinner - Duck Egg Green (AV 71.009) went well, Black (AV 70.950) needed several layers and Yellow (AV 70.953)...😭 Didn't use primer but I wonder why Duck Egg is doing so well compared to the other colours. Maybe it's because the Duck Egg is brand new, fresh out of the bottle 🤔
Last winter I wanted to “unyellow” this decal sheet but ultraviolet sunlight was blocked by cloudy ☁️ weather. I will give it another try as we have summer ☀️ now. If i ever going to build a Mig 👹 jetfighter it will be the one in use by the Indian Air Force for which I will use these decals.
Impressive hardware from the past at the steam depot in Beekbergen (NL). The locomotives of the VSM (Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij) are maintained and kept running by a large number of volunteers.
What the ... 🙄 I would expect the decal having a white stripe as well. And once again another challenge for this model kit, an airbrush 🌬️ white stripe-challenge this time.
The "trench" on top of the MDD DC-10-30 KLM fuselage has been plastered somewhat. Enough is enough and I don't want to put more putty and effort in it 🥱 Now on to next phase, applying fresh KLM colour combinations 🖌️ 😎
#buildthestash status update. Halfway through the year and all went well. Haven’t bought any kits so far. Just tools and paints. Currently building two kits simultaneously, a Karaya (former Eastern Express 😭 ) MDD KLM DC-10-30 1:144 and an Italeri P51-A 1:72. How is your stash doing?
Interior forever hidden from view once a closed canopy is put in place. My 1:72 interiors looks horrible on magnifying, larger scales might become better. The Italeri is less detailed compared to Airfix and a decal sheet for the cockpit instruments (what Airfix often does) might made things easier.
Sanding for several hours using 400 - 600 - 1000 - 1500 - 2000 grit sanding paper 🥱 Relaxation therapy 😴 ? It seems to work somewhat, less seal and some cracks. A last effort to conceal the cracks.
Using AI coding tools seems to be the future. Maybe it's is an old fashioned statement, but you still have to understand what the (generated) code is doing and why it is written/generated that way. AI can help you with that as well but you can't leave your understanding entirely to AI?
Building a 1:72 Italeri P-51A Mustang. This model kit has 2 configurations. I guess I have to select a configuration what pleases me most. Still I'm very curious what Mustang (A/B/C/Mk.II or..) uses what configuration. The model kit mentions nothing. Anyone can tell? #scalemodel #histscalemodels

It really sucks the way those DC-10 fuselages parts came out of the moulds 😭 Guess I have to putty / CA-glue again to conceal the ugly seal 🙄
Have to put my Karaya MDD DC-10-30 aside for some days as the black primer still feels tacky. Seems the retarder being used is doing its job well 🙄 So in the meantime I'll start this from my stash. The Mustang P-51A will be given RAF 268th squadron colours 😎
Vallejo Black Primer went well on mixing it with thinner, flow improver & retarder. Despite the mixture being used, I am afraid I still must give it a week to cure. Otherwise the primer will peel off on sanding. And how to get rid of that ugly seam? Guess more sanding sessions need to be done 🤔
#TankTuesday This Panther-D tank was given to the city of Breda (NL) by Polish troops who liberated Breda (General Maczek's Polish 1st Armoured Division - 1944) and this monument was erected to commemorate the liberation of Breda (NL 🇳🇱) and its liberators.
Bloody hell 🔥 does this model kit, created from moulds having its origins somewhere behind the iron curtain 👹 contain parts that by accident do fit? 😅 Seems to be common practice for civil passenger jet model kits 😳 I will do some more plastering & sanding this weekend. Enjoy yours 👋🏻
For those building scale model civilian passenger jets, What do you use for those white markings most jet engines have? Decals or using a brush freehand? #histscalemodels #scalemodels
Not exactly a perfect fit 🫣 for those parts coming out of a mould having its origins somewhere behind the iron curtain 👹 Guess I will need that putty from the hardware store (intended for walls) to fill up the huge gaps 😳😅
Did use some clay for adding weight to the nose so the plane won’t rear up. Looks quite horrible 😅 Guess cavity wall insulation also looks like that. Anyways, once the fuselages are glued you won’t see the clay anymore.
Tried organizing my ‘mobile’ workshop and my scale modelling hobby stuff using a trolley. Don’t have a fully equipped workshop 🤩 like some lucky ones are having,
The smell coming out of my box containing glues and decal setting fluids is overwhelming 💀 😳 (nothing leaks all properly closed) Do you use a mask on gluing parts? 🤔 #histscalemodels #scalemodels
Watchtower De Kaap near Doorn (NL). Standing above it feels much higher than 25 meters. Very foggy, the view will be better in fine weather. Waiting for summer ☀️🏖️
Chrome (Vallejo 71.064) and Silver (Vallejo 71.063). Hardly can see the difference 🤔 #scalemodels #histscalemodels
On airbrushing I decided to use the mask below from now on instead of that white dusk mask I used before. I use acrylic paints and those paints are not or less toxic compared to the enamels. Nonetheless it won't do any harm using better protection.
