For YEARS I've wanted to Interrail, but time, funds or tiny kids have meant it hasn't quite been possible. But a spur of the moment decision about 3 weeks ago means we are now doing a (mini) Interrail through Northern Italy for 7 days! Hope everyone else is having a restful break so far!
The best news to wake up to! PD Lead accreditation, completed 💪 One of the most enjoyable programmes that I've ever done, and of course, hugely proud to pass!
Last week, I was fortunate enough to host two Year 10 students for a week's work experience (in my other life at Ezra's Confetti). The pair were brilliant, and wrote some reflections here: ezrasconfetti.com/blogs/news/a... Please do take a read, because this truly is inspiring! 🙏
A Word from Our Work Experience Week

Coming home to not one, but two incredible parcels today! The first is Rhiannon Rainbow FCCT and Dave Tushingham's latest book! It is a huge privilege to have a chapter featured in this book. Thank you so much for choosing our talk! I hope the chapter is helpful for all readers!
What a day at King's College London on Saturday! An absolute pleasure to support the Kings Scholars programme, helping students develop the skills and knowledge to access universities. The chance to talk through up to 80 parents/carers through metacognition at home was an absolute pleasure!
I won't name and shame this school, but this is everything that is wrong with reward systems. Ice creams, for the top 10% of students following their mocks exams, during a heatwave, is about as unfair as it gets. Schools MUST do better.
I think I've just about recovered from the Festival of Education (in a good way)! I had no idea what to expect, having never been before, but had one of the greatest days of my professional life.
A huge privilege to deliver at the Whole Education conference yesterday, exploring why metacognition is for ALL students, and how we can scaffold and adapt to ensure that this is the case. Thank you to the dozens who came to my session, and the kind words afterwards too!
A room with a view! A pleasure to work with all Heads of Department at St Joseph's High School today, on their 'away day' (look at the views)! This was followed up with a full staff theory session at the end of the day! Already buzzing to be back after summer!
Are we making the most of tutor time? Students spend up to 10% of their school week in it yet it’s often used for admin & catch‑up. @mrmetacognition.bsky.social explores 8 ideas for tutor time activities that boost learning, behaviour & wellbeing: buff.ly/0ZljxDC #schools #teaching
I honestly can't believe it... I've woken up to find that my latest book is now second in the curriculum book chart, behind the one and only Mary Myatt. I couldn't ever imagine it being so popular - so thank you EVERYONE who has bought a copy, reviewed it, and supported me on this journey!

A brilliant day at the ATT Institute rED in East Anglia today! A superb keynote by Christine Counsell (on storytelling), followed by amazing sessions by Claire Harley (decision making), Claire Badger & Kerensa Ogbe (on MWB use), Stuart Pryke (100% participation) and Paul Cline (feedback).
What is your September 1st INSET plan? Due to a postponement of some training, I now have this day back available. I'd love to come and support a school/Trust, exploring metacognition and associated areas. If interested drop me a DM - the date is unlikely to be free for long!
There are some days where you just have to pinch yourself, because you can't quite believe something is real. Today was certainly one of those, as I had the absolute honour of providing a foreword for a forthcoming education book. I can't wait to share more it!

A pleasure to run this webinar, "Developing a Metacognitive Curriculum", for LLSE tonight! Developing a curriculum that deepens and advances student metacognitive skills is paramount - but precisely how to do this? Less obvious!
