I've tried for years to "get into" mainstream anime. Nothing quite hits the same as Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, and Cowboy Bebop. So far, and this is a big caveat because I hate judging anime that's in-progress, Daemons of the Shadow Realm comes close.
