funny how out of all the bmups i've played, the ones whose enemy roster stood out the most are also the ones with the more limited movement and arsenal hmmm, what could this mean......

bit of a shame whenever ppl bring up crazy taxi it's mostly just to mention the music and visual which are really awesome but man, from a pure gameplay perspective it's just so well made and unique

y'know, something i wish modern wave-based games did more is find ways to make the end of a wave more interesting a common problem i have with these kinda games is as the wave dies down it gets kinda boring since you'll usually have like 1 fodder enemy running around that can't really pose a threat

some people say rock paper scissors isn't skill-based because the moves aren't telegraphed, but the truth is it's extremely skill-based it's THE "trying to get in your opponent's head and predict their moves" game

watched a certain youtuber's video on scoring and it just made me realize just how limited and narrow a lot of people's view on scoring systems can be like go play a game with good well implemented scoring systems instead of 2d mario and sonic PLEASE

i wonder why so many run n guns held back on any significant randomization so much i like a lot of the games in the genre but more randomized chaotic stuff like GnG is very much the exception rather than the norm

@boghogstg.bsky.social i started playing some bmups and i gotta ask any thoughts on captain commando? people seem to like it overall but i don't see much discussion surrounding it and are there any 90s home console bmups worth checking out, most of what i'm currently playing are arcade titles

started playing knights of the round and i'm actually surprised at this game's scoring system, it's pretty interesting and it also has a good parry/blocking mechanic? in a beat 'em up? wow!

just had a discord debate with a friend about whether arcade game devs when designing their games prioritized pro players who want to 1cc or newbies to eat quarters from was a fun talk, i ultimately STRONGLY leaned into the former but the other perspective was intriguing to hear

been thinking way too much about static elements vs rng ones in games particularly i wish there were more platformers with rng elements tied to em? ghouls n ghosts and spelunky scratch that itch very well but there's just not that much else i can find sadly

currently playing 2 different sega genesis games alien soldier is really interesting and starting to grow on me, very eager to try out 1ccs with that sor2 is really fun but i feel bad woth spamming infinites and it's a bit too slow paced imo
