Comprehensive school educated, I grew up in Huyton (the last Scouse outpost before becoming a wool). Even there, when I was a kid in late 70s/ early 80s, I heard about Jimmy Saville. There’s no way media, governments and others in positions of power and responsibility didn’t.

Jimmy Saville carried out the most reviled crimes at a historically significant level for decades across multiple organisations. He had about two-minutes uncomfortable questioning in TV shows he agreed to. That's how seriously you should take the British media's claims to hold people to account.

Jason Arday was (literally) hounded to death for a matter that ultimately affected one university. Boris Johnson lied to us all at the despatch box, funnelled tax payers money to his mistress & mates & shook off security to party with a KGB spy… yet gets a column in the Daily Mail.

I switched off #BBCNews a few years back, deleted all news apps too. #Channel4 news gets a cursory glance irregularly. Ignorance isn’t bliss, but then neither is being gaslit and forced a narrative that’s contra to what I’ve seen or believe to be true from my own experience. Grim isn’t in it.

#LilyAllen in Dublin last night delivered a near perfect exercise in musical theatre that didn’t scream here’s where your £100 went, and for me, even with a showtime of an hour, didn’t need to. The Dallas Minors cellists opening was a fun touch too, nearly 7,000 singing Fuck You was a highlight.

Who greenlit a movie like #Supergirl? My heart sank within minutes because I knew it was a turkey. Bad casting, cliche villains, reductive story. I would have walked, but that meant waking the person I went with up (true). Best thing was the dog, and that was almost dead for much of the film.

Watched the Criterion Pink Flamingoes earlier and actually had to fast forward through the chicken scene and close the shutters ahead of the syringe insemination (IYKYK). Hi-def and big screens, really made me yearn for the bootleg vid I first watched it on 40 years ago. Old, older and squeamish!
