I’m going into my 25th year of teaching. The use of AI has made students lazy, brazen & foolish. They aren’t able to have a unique thought. They aren’t curious. They need instant gratification. They lack creativity & an appreciation for seeing a project through. It’s soul-crushing to witness.

I just spent eight days in San Diego focusing solely on myself. I attended OnSite’s Triumph Over Tragedy to (finally) declutter my brain & move through healing. I met some amazing people; although we went through different experiences with gun violence, we have a deep understanding & connection.

Twenty-four years. One district. Three schools. Six principals. Ten classrooms. This year brought me back to newspaper & lit mag, but also brought the challenges of trying to navigate & educate in a state/country that grossly undervalue education & educators.

HOLY SH*T, this parting statement by Scott Pelley is WILD: "New management has instructed me to INJECT FALSEHOODS AND BIAS into a politically sensitive story. I've been told to include assertions that are unverified." I bet he knows a LOT more, too. 🔥

“This Teacher Appreciation Week, Florida can take action and put an end to the public health crisis of gun violence by addressing our lax gun laws. Gun violence was the 2nd leading cause of death for children in Florida, resulting in 132 deaths in 2023 alone.” @mrslerner.bsky.social
