Said goodbye to our theatre compadre Ash today. Ash had kept his illness to himself for years, not wanted to burden or bring darkness to any of his friends. So the feeling of disbelief was strong today. But connecting with his friends & family today provided some much-needed balm for our spirits.

I got my code to access the sale for the Oasis show in Munich next July! Like I can afford this after the big Paris/Napoli trip a month ago. I’ve always wanted to visit Germany, would’ve preferred visiting during Oktoberfest, but this would be grand! Do I do it? Can I afford it? Oh god oh god.

Experiencing my favourite band, @marillion.com at a venue like Anfiteatro di Pompeii was an out of the world experience! The place is massive and it’s dripping with history and ghosts and to hear their epic music ringing throughout was unforgettable and transcendental! Photos by Anne-Marie Forker

The Castel Nuovo in beautiful Napoli, Italia, is a medieval fortress with five towers, a renaissance triumphal arch, an underground excavation, and inexplicably, a Robert Crumb gallery sharing space in a chapel.

This sumptuous courtyard in the super posh Hotel de Crillon seemed a perfect spot to enjoy a grilled Catalan sausage with mash. Plus a Hibiki Suntori whisky that turned out to be a whopping 48€! Our final meal in Paris for this vacation. Very sad to leave. But my wallet is delighted to leave.

Shakespeare and Company is a renowned & beloved bookstore in Paris. Word is that famous writers from way back used to write there. Now there are lineups every day at all hours to get in and browse. We ended up with four books and a beautiful tote bag. And a homemade lemonade from the cafe next door.

And up ze Eiffel Tower we go!
