I saw this study and few years ago & did an audit of the pic book collection at Morgan. Our results were close. I’ve made a concentrated effort to purchase books featuring characters who are Indigenous, Asian, other POC, neurodiverse, and Immigrants, authored by own voice. #sd36learn #BCTLA #sd36tl

Shocking stats on diversity in children's books (2018): • White characters dominate 50% of children's books (1,558 books) • Animals appear more often than most minority groups at 27% (864 books)
