It's one week since our beautiful boy Bo passed away. He was one of the best pups ever born. I felt his presence on the trails in the woods behind my house this morning. It was right after sunrise and it seemed like he was there beside me. I sure miss him.

Thank you for all your support from yesterday's post about losing our boy Bo. This is Bo as a pupply with my son Ryan, one of his best buddies. Many of you mentioned supporting rescue organizations and I couldn't agree more. Bo was a rescue as are our other two dogs. (Continued in ALT)

My family has supported dog rescue organizations for a dozen years now. My wife volunteered for a rescue here in North Florida for many years. We found Bo through that rescue. We have fostered many hundreds of dogs from one night to months. We had a little area in our living room with a cage around it. It was constantly filled with puppies. Our other dogs are rescues too. One of them was scheduled to be euthanized the next morning and my son drove 8 hours round trip to get him. The other dog we have was found on a trail in the woods all alone in November of 2017 and was covered with fleas and ticks and was heartworm positive. With help from our local rescue organization, we fixed him up and now he's living the life. So yes, I wholeheartedly agree. Please support companion animal rescues in any way possible.

How do we go on with life when we lose the love and companionship of a lovely and beautiful dog we've been living with for 12 years? You were an old soul, Bo. So attuned to people and always so very calm. My wife and I and our family will miss you for the rest of our lives.

Bo was found out in the woods when he was three weeks old with 7 other siblings and his emaciated mother. They were all rescued. We fostered three of them, including Bo. My wife fed then with syringes for several weeks. The other two went off to other families. We were in the process of finding a family for Bo when we decided that we loved him and wanted him to become a part of our family. That was 12 years ago.
