Been watching people drag writers for being tricked into helping an AI company. And rather be mad at the corporation that presented them with an opportunity under false pretence they are mad at the writers. Writers who are against generative AI. Ugh.

To summarise a long story..my water had broken, I said I was in labour,& they preferred to show my a flat line from a fetal heart rate monitor than check the birthing canal & while they ‘effed around with that, I gave birth to a healthy, baby. It’s been over 21 years and I’m still angry

A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

2 months ago I gave myself permission to make bad art & took part in a pottery workshop. My body is not compatible with the art form but love to take part every so many years. Picked them up today and am DELIGHTED they actually hold liquid. And the fact they are wonky as hell gives me joy.

Two hand made mugs. The clear glaze gives a cream finish. Dried fynbos was pressed in, kind of like tiny dried ferns or lavender , and these impressions were glazed black. So it looks like the mugs were bury by dried foliage. However , while I made the imprint I did NOT do the glazing. Also, due to the angle you can’t see how wobbly they are. The tops look like a drunk dressage rider trying to make a circle. As in, wonky as hell. But charming in their own unique way. Ha.

Taking responsibility for your own mistakes is a rarity for those with power, be it parents, governments, education & medical institutions, or corporations. It’s almost always those at the mercy of the powerful that are expected to be the bigger person and bear the brunt of the mistakes.

I wrote about the hotass mess that hundreds of recent law grads in Washington are going through for no good reason! ballsandstrikes.org/legal-cultur...

I ‘ve been sent a YouTube explanation of Titanium Court after trying to listen to my son’s perplexing attempt at describing it. I know have new appreciation of why he was struggling so hard to articulate the game. Also, I now want to play it despite knowing that would be the path to disaster.

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

25 year religious marriage anniversary is on the same day South Africa is telling all foreigners to leave. Kind of fitting, I suppose. Given all the shit I went through to get my residency status. And that BS is still a cakewalk compared to the US immigration system.

Demanded video footage of sharks body surfing. He claims they stopped when he pulled out his phone. I have now suggested he leave little treats on the shoreline. My suggestions of what these treats could entail might be categorized as slightly macabre.

Me: Currently, gently, trying to point out that no, dear client, I don't think the AI is going to save anyone time or money in this use case. Husband: Currently watching sharks body surf onto land because they can before returning to the shallow water. 1/

Keep getting ads for the “bush buckle” - a faux-seatbelt that clicks in so you don’t have to listen to the beep-beep-beep while driving out in the wilds with no seatbelt. Meanwhile, any dog tether will do the same thing for a fraction of the price. Not that I recommend riding sans seatbelt.

In all seriousness, I don't think it is great that the orcas drove Great Whites away from their fav breeding spot. Even before the sharks were driven off, they were not known for bothering people. As for why the seals are now getting rather alarming diseases, I don't know. Ask a scientist.

So one of the grooms made the mistake of letting me know his favourite thing to do in his downtime is to read. He is fairly new, so had no idea what he unleashed. Anyway, I look forward to hearing what he enjoyed in the 2 sacks I loaned out so I can better tailor the next load. Ha.
