familiarity, routine, proximity; something shifting #togainunochi

motomi and shiki examine a large spread of notes, documents, and photos -- presumably in relation to nano -- spread across an altar or table in the church. also on the table are a burning candle and a smoking ashtray. shiki is leaning over the table in the middle of speaking, as motomi approaches him, holding one steaming mug and sliding a second one in shiki's direction. shiki, still focused on the table, reaches out to take the cup as he continues speaking.

lawn incident aftermath ༘⋆🍻 (motomi remembers Everything. shiki remembers Nothing. godspeed, motomi...)

[2] flashback to the night before shiki pinning motomi on the palace lawn, surrounded by scattered beer bottles. motomi holds onto shikis arm and back as he protests "hey, hey! watch the teeth..." while shiki slides a thumb into motomi's mouth and demands "shut up." theyre both breathing heavily and look a total mess, and a little blood is smeared on shikis face

☆ panel 2: motomi pulls the cigarette from his mouth to smile big and teases shiki "you like it~🎵", inching a hand closer to his head/face. shiki, completely unimpressed and a little irritated, raises his sword to try and shoo motomi off as he icily states "dont try."
☆ panel 3: motomi swiftly grabs shikis jaw with the hand he had raised, pulling it towards him. shiki slightly lowers his sword in surprise, eyes wide, as motomi blows smoke in his open mouth with a smile.

[early days motoshiki comic🎉🎉 continued from the quoted art of shiki giving motomi a nosebleed with a swift headbutt] motomi pulls his hand from his nose, noting the slowing/ halting of blood from it "i think it stopped?"--> shiki's hand grabs motomi's shoulder and motomi immediately raises his hand to cover his nose again, defensively --> shiki seats himself in motomi's lap, hands on motomi's waist and shoulder, smiling like he's up to something (because he probably is). motomi looks up with a flash of surprise, still covering his nose --> shiki smiles smugly at motomi --> motomi looks warily at shiki. "... not gonna headbutt me again, are ya?" --> instead of an answer, shiki leans forward without dropping his little smile and tries to pry motomi's hand from his face, demanding, "move your hand" --> motomi rolls to attempt crawling away, hand still protecting his nose. "fat chance, ya little menace. i wasn't born yesterday." "yeah, no shit, old man," shiki snaps back, still planted in motomis lap. he leans in the direction motomi's body is turned and tries to turn him/ pull him back with a hand on his shoulder. they start to scuffle a bit.

all-out scuffling. shiki's head and one hand grabbing motomi's arm are visible, as well as one more of motomi's hands and his foot as he struggles under shiki. "just--! stop being difficult!" shiki unconvincingly barks. "no!" "move. your. hand." "eat. a-- whoah?!" --> the sheets puff beneath them as motomi is thrown back against them and finally pinned by shiki sitting across his hips and wrapping his hands around motomi's wrists. motomi looks up from where he lies with a small flush of exertion, a bit of nervousness, and a lower face smeared with nosebleed blood (noseblood, even?) --> shiki leans down so close that his face is almooost touching motomi's, smiling and giving a small satisfied huff. --> shiki tips his head to lick the blood on motomi's chin and lips. motomi's mouth falls open in surprise, and he blushes a little at the bold move. --> shiki continues to lick up the bloodsmear, all the way to the apple of motomi's cheek, which he probably considers biting but kisses instead, maybe unintentionally. motomi's blush is deeper, and he can't help his habit of regarding shiki a little fondly despite the man clearly being a strange and total bastard maximum --> shiki's hand holding down motomi's wrist --> noticing motomi has stopped trying to escape, shiki lets his hands trail away to find something else to hold --> motomi's hands disappear as well --> shiki curled over motomi, one hand supporting himself on motomi's chest and the other touching at motomi's jaw and neck. he has his eyes open, watching motomi's face as he kisses him open-mouthed, messy, and bloody (on account of the noseblood). motomi lies against the mattress, eyes drifting shut as he's kissed crazy style within an inch of his life. the blood on his face is mostly gone now, or at least left only in lingering pink smears. motomi brings his now-released hand up to brush against and gently hold shiki's arm.

shiki licks the last of the blood off his own smirking lips, seemingly satisfied with having licked motomi's face clean. only the fewest faintest bloodsmears remain. motomi (back to sitting upright) looks at shiki still a bit dazed and flushed.

"relax. don't give yourself another one," shiki taunts, pinching the bruised bridge of motomi's nose. motomi yelps

1) shiki glaring off to the side, ignoring motomi and looking annoyed or at least flustered by him but i mean getting flustered would just piss shiki off anyways so its all the same in the end i guess. motomi fans the fire/ tests his luck by prodding shiki with a singsongy "princess~"
2-3) shiki hits the slim limit of his patience and whips around to spit a "WHAT--" but realizes motomi has leaned in a little closer than he thought, smiling a little amused at shiki. their two comic panels are also closer together to mirror this :3
4-5) motomi and shikis comic panels are so close they're basically one panel now. motomi gently rests shikis chin in his hand as he leans across the panel border to murmur a little "thank you" in his ear. meanwhile shikis brain looks like its still recalibrating lol.
6) motomi pulls away from the side of shikis head but still holds his chin in his hand, tilting their faces and drawing them closer...
7) ...before just dropping his weight back on the bed with a little audible "bmf!" of the pillows, eyes closed and a satisfied look on his face. shiki is confused.
8) still confused, shiki tries to get the upper hand/ a reaction with a taunt "hah! dont tell me you finally gave up attempting to hold me down?" but motomi just agreeably returns "eh, figured i'd let ya have this one. do what ya want for once." [wont try to hold him down/ make him stay]

9) smugly smiling, shiki takes the news as a win, thinking to himself "hmph, finally. victory~˖ ࣪⊹"
10) he stops and thinks for a moment, realization sinking in. he is suddenly much less smug. "...."
11) shiki, now understanding he has been played, thinks to himself "D A M N I T" in frustration. [without the excuse of motomi holding him down and shiki being "too tired" or "dont care" enough to move him, the decision to stay suddenly becomes much more apparently active vs passive. cant claim to only ~reluctantly~ stick around when its your move to do so.]
12) motomi lies on the pillow, eyes closed, face relaxed. he looks like hes asleep but hes just patiently waiting.
13) just out of frame, there is the small "bmf" of a head hitting the nearby pillow and a bit of dark hair fanning across its surface can be seen. motomi, eyes still closed, smiles knowingly.
14) motomi opens his eyes and his arms, smiling kindly at shiki as he beckons him closer with a warm little "cmere." shiki, still pissed at being played, is curled up, arms pulled close to his body, glaring at motomi.
15) shiki has had Enough, sitting up suddenly to flip motomi, slamming his back against the mattress. motomi looks a little nervous as he yelps "s-shiki?!"
16) shiki rolls motomi, and pulls their bodies together, motomis back against his chest. motomi still looks a little puzzled.
17) a little less roughly, shiki curls around motomi, wrapping his arm around his stomach to hold him where he is
18) in a mix of fondness exasperation and amusement, suddenly finding himself being little spoon'd, motomi lightheartedly half-asks-half-jabs "...comfortable?" and places his hand over shikis hand on his chest. shiki buries his face in motomis hair, looking off to the side and gives a little "hmph". his other hand wraps around motomis waist.
19) doodle of shiki snoozing away, still spooning motomi, who realizes in amusement "guess i was the one held down this time..."

also! some time last year i started making a conscious effort to improve my comic game (trying for interesting panelling, better flow, good text placement, best utilizing space, etc) and im looking back at a bunch of the comics ive made since then and i really am so happy with them heheh :3
