The difference in skills for my 6 y/o son’s soccer league is crazy. There’s parents on the other teams screaming at their kids who actually know how to play. My son’s team had 2 practices total and now all they do is play against other teams. Meanwhile my son is kicking the ball to his team’s goal.

ISD 196 is out of their damn minds if they think we’d be sending our 5 & 6 year old kids to their 1st soccer game in this heat. I was expecting them to cancel tonight for the 6pm game…but no. They emailed parents saying, “we can still play as long as the heat index is under 100°!”

I know it’s super confusing, but tonight and every single night since July 5th is not in fact the 4th of July. Neighbors are gonna start catching hands lighting off airborne fireworks.

Sometimes I wish I had the misplaced confidence of old folks driving through a roundabout. There’s enough tire tracks going through what is very clearly the center of the roundabout rather than on the dedicated pavement.

I have a bone to pick with these children’s content approved YouTube channels that feature random segments with yellow and/or gold colored showers. It’s super fun being at a soccer practice when your five year old loudly yells, “dad I want a golden shower like the kids and that man on the TV!”

The stages of realizing that smell isn’t the thing you thought it was. 1. Oof someone definitely just ran over a skunk 2. Come to think of it I’ve never seen a skunk around here before 3. That skunk actually smells…pretty good? 4. Yeah, no yeah that’s not a skunk

Dang. The new reverse osmosis system makes our drinking water not taste like I’m licking chlorine off a frying pan anymore. It’s amazing what not drinking PFAS, gross alpha radiation, and chlorine can do for your well being. Probably gives a temporary +1 con, +1 vit buff.

Cool cool cool, the new dehumidifier threw in the towel and immediately got ice in the fins after 1 hour. It’s asinine that I need to add a space heater in the vicinity of the dehumidifier just so it can work

PSA for anyone with an AC unit. Check that the fins are free from fuzz, dirt, and debris. They sell no rinse coil cleaners at just about any hardware store. Soft long bristle brushes will do the trick too. tl;dr Don’t make your AC unit work harder than it needs to in a record heat wave.
