Drs Jieun Kim and Michele Fornaro were honored at the 2026 Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner! Dr. Kim was promoted to Associate Professor w/ Tenure and recognized for 5 years of service, and Dr. Fornaro was recognized for 15 years of service. Our department is lucky to have such amazing faculty!
We would like to thank our TAs, Mackenzie, Tristyn, Anjaly, Ryan, Emma, and Sully, for an incredible summer! We wish them the best as they begin their second year at CCOM!

So many cool projects to keep track of for Team Bone! Alex Pope (CCOM '28) showed how cadaveric data can reliably reveal associations between bone density and age, sex, and size using quantitative ultrasound.

Mini pig cuteness alert! Dr. Yang @ MWU Anatomy and team members published a new article on the discovery of a fossil mini pig (Cainochoerus) in Kenya. Unlike most "mini pigs" online, Cainochoerus is a true mini pig, standing at ~knee height. Unfortunately, it went extinct a few million years back.

New Publication Alert! Dr. Jieun Kim, Dr. Erin Leslie, and Dr. Hadiah Kedwaii (DO, MWU alumnus) have a new paper out in Forensic Science International. "Breaking the 50+ Barrier: Cortical Speed of Sound via Quantitative Ultrasound as a New Age-at-death Estimator in Older Adults"
The MWU Anatomy Department in Downers Grove welcomes our newest faculty member, Dr. Deming Yang! Dr. Yang earned his Ph.D. and M.A. from Stony Brook University and completed postdoctoral research fellowship at the American Museum of Natural History. (1/4)
