My Bus Edinburgh

An application for Android to view live bus departures in Edinburgh, Scotland. Created independently by @niallscott.bsky.social

Hello all. Here's a little preview of what I've been working on recently; - Re-wrote favourites, nearest stops and search screens - These screens now include dropdown menus, rather than relying on a hard-to-discover long press to perform extra actions - Service names are now coloured

On this coming Sunday, 22nd Feb, Lothian Buses introduces a set of service changes. Since the bus tracker API changes, I am having to obtain static data (bus stops, services and route lines) from alternative sources. I've been working on this over the past month and this effort is almost complete.

My Bus Edinburgh has been on the new bus tracker API for over a month now. So, some stats from over the past 30 days; Bus times requests: 633.5k Average response time: 88ms Data transferred: 2GB Busiest day: 29th Jan (21.8k requests) Quietest day: 25th Jan (5.4k requests)

Well, it's been a massive effort over the past couple of days, but My Bus Edinburgh has been updated to version 3.3 to fix the issues with displaying bus times that have plagued the app over the past few weeks. Available now in the Google Play Store. Any issues? Please let me know.

There have been issues with bus tracker in the past few weeks - since mid-December. The City of Edinburgh Council is migrating to a new bus tracker system for third-party apps to obtain data from. In mid-December the old bus tracker system started to give out estimated (non-live) times only.

A change was made to Bus Tracker without my prior knowledge which means bus times are not currently working. Fortunately the fix is simple and I am currently publishing a new app update this morning to fix it. I will update here when the update is out.

A new update, v3.2, is rolling out from today. All going well, the update will be available to all devices by the end of the week. The main change is a brand new 'Updates' section. Also support for the latest versions of Android, and improved edge-to-edge UI support. Any issues? Get in touch.

The selected tab is 'Diversions'. The data was last updated now.

Two diversion items are shown: "North Bridge from Tuesday 21st October" and "West Main Street, Whitburn from Thursday 23rd October"

Both diversion items have blurb text to describe the diversion and visible in the first diversion is a listing of affected services. Also, a "More details" button is shown to allow the user to see more details about this diversion.
