Just published a Kickstarter update with all of our progress so far with Designed in California. It's all going wel!

Update 12: July Update · Designed in California: An Apple history podcast

Hello everyone! We wanted to provide an update for you on where everything is at right now. We mentioned previously that the show will be launching with the continuation of the series on 'Apple's Mac OS Crisis' with special guest John Siracusa. We recently recorded another session with John and are about 90% of the way through editing those episodes, and we're doing one more session with John next week. We expect that (including the first episode of this series that we published inside an Upgrade episode as a teaser) that there will be seven episodes of that series in total. It will cover everything up to the public announcement of the NeXT acquisition and Steve Jobs's appearance at Macworld Expo in January 1997.As a reminder, when the show launches, if you backed at the Founding Producer level and above, you will get all of those episodes at once, rather than waiting week by week. We are still targeting early September for the show to officially begin publishing new episodes. As mentioned previously, we'll have the feed up and running a short time before that. We'll be sending everyone details about this soon, so keep an eye out.Jason has also started research for the next series that we'll be tackling, and we are very excited that it'll be marking a big anniversary this fall.Right now we are using the additional production time we've had as a way to try and make sure our systems have a decent foundation. We are learning a lot about how to produce a show like this. There is much more yet to learn, but we're getting our heads around it. Suffice it to say we've completely reorganised our shared Dropbox folder maybe four times already, have renumbered (and lettered!) our episode designations multiple times, and have debated exactly what the world

I absolutely love Track Star*, so it was a pleasure to get to talk to Jack Coyne on this episode of Cortex. We got to talk about the origins of the show, how it's made, and how Jack thinks about scaling it while protecting what makes it work. I really loved this conversation relay.fm/cortex/181

I am so incredibly honored to share that I will be working alongside the legend, the myth, the Underscore himself, as well as @ismh86.net, and @myke.social! Our brief collaboration on the latest Pedometer++ Apple Watch update was such a fun experience, can't wait to see what we do next ✨

I am super excited to launch my new company, Offkilter Guitars, today. It’s a boutique electric guitar company, specializing in my own version of an offset Tele. The culmination of the last few years of trying to find my perfect guitar, and deciding I had to build it instead. offkilterguitars.com

It's been a really great WWDC week. Was great to see friends, work on exciting projects, and see where my next few months will go. Until next time!
