I’ll die on the hill that the best aspects of Akira are the cityscapes. Uneven, disjointed, megalithic titans of concrete and steel. The genius in them is every shot feels like you’re staring straight up from street level - into the nose of god itself. That fractured POV is otherworldly.

Tonight I jumped on the website of my LCS and this might be my “old man yells at cloud” moment but literally nothing in the new releases section appealed to me. Now, am I dunking on today’s comic creators? No, you do you. Im just saying that I think I’d rather raid a discount bin of $1 comics.
The first four episodes of X-Men ‘97 Season 2 were great. Incredible, even. However, the rest of the season felt like a series of rushed side-quests. It should’ve been fleshed out over an additional 3 episodes. #xmen
