Minecraft launches for Nintendo Switch 2 in October

Well we finally have a release date for the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 version of the popular Minecraft. The new and improved version which features "Vibrant Visuals" as standard and also the much-loved Super Mario Mash-Up pack is also getting an update when Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 launches on 27th October. Vibrant Visuals includes "enhanced lighting, shadow effects and more" and the Super Mario Mash-Up pack brings a "custom Mario-themed world, music, and unique skins." Mojang and Microsoft have also confirmed that a digital upgrade path will be available for Nintendo Switch players.

Dataminers have been checking the most recent update for Monster Hunter Wilds trying to glean some information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. By the looks of it, Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 runs at a dynamic resolution in both docked mode and handheld. Docked can run at between 1080p and 1440p and handheld at 720p and 864p with the framerate being roughly 30-40fps.

Legendary video game developer Shigeru Miyamoto has explained that Mario's iconic dash mechanic which can be used to clear tight gaps when going at speed was the result of a coding bug back in the day. Mario wasn't meant to clear the gaps using his dash as it was a result of flawed collision detection system. Miyamoto thought it was fun, so he said let's leave it as it is.
