Curried Sweet Potato Pasties from Molly MacRae

I ate my first pasty (pronounced with a short a as in cat) in Cornwall in 1975. So good! Pasties are sturdy meat and potato hand pies and the traditional lunch for Cornish miners. They’re now considered the national dish of Cornwall and, since 2011, the name is fiercely guarded. To earn the name Cornish pasty, it must be made in Cornwall, and made of beef, potato, rutabaga, onion, salt, and

Amish Sweet Bread #recipe @vmburns

VMBURNS:  I mentioned my fear of yeast in a previous article when I FINALLY made a quick bread. Well, I am tackling my fears again. This time, I made an Amish Sweet Bread. It was delicious, and I can't believe it's taken me so long to try this. First, the ingredients are things that pretty much everyone has on hand (except the yeast). Flour, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil or butter. are

@AUTHOR DARCI HANNAH, SWEDISH LIMPA BREAD, RECIPE

DARCI HANNAH: Because it’s October and many of us bakers get the urge to bake, I thought I’d talk a little bit today about a foodie subject that’s near and dear to my heart: homemade bread. Homemade bread is one of the great pleasures in life. I don’t know many people who can resist a warm slice of fresh-from-the-oven bread, especially when it’s slathered with butter. Coconut Lime Shrimp with Cilantro Rice, from Leslie Budewitz

LESLIE BUDEWITZ:  This recipe was another fun discovery in the same magazine, picked up at the natural food store, as the Roasted Apricot and Ricotta Toast, proving that you never know where your next meal is coming from! The combination of flavors is terrific, and this is quick and easy enough, with minimal prep, for a weeknight dinner. Whenever I see lemon juice in a recipe, I

Maple Tahini Rice Krispy Treats by Lucy Burdette

LUCY BURDETTE: I do not think I’ve ever in my life made a pan of rice crispy treats. However, when I saw a recipe in Real Simple written by Jenna Helwig from a cookbook by Leah Koenig (The Dessert Table), I was tempted. Super Easy Flatbread recipe from Molly MacRae

Making flatbread is fun. There are some that you pat flat with your hands, some that you make in the palm of your hand, and some that you roll out or flatten in a press. However their made, forming flatbread reminds me of playing with playdough. The result of flatbread forming fun, though, is something delicious to go with your meal, or the base for an open face sandwich or pizza.
