Here's the TLDR version of my previous State of MystoPress update (so ignore where it says read post below!) Stay tuned for what we'll be up to in 2026, we will still be around! <3

So I definitely meant to update folks on Bluesky about the campaign, and about MystoPress in general but tbh it has been a very tough year and things have slowed down so much more than expected. But the good news is, Paroxysm 5 has been funded and we are on track for fulfillment at the eom! (1/5)

Looking forward to running this virtual panel on queer horror and healing for @queerzestzinefest.bsky.social tomorrow @1—2PM EST!

In addition to tabling this month for @queerzestzinefest.bsky.social I will be doing a virtual panel on healing within the horror genre, with a focus on community catharsis and queer horror. I hope you can join us and participate in the other workshops and events they have going on all month long!

To the lower right is text announcing a virtual panel for Queer Zest Zine Fest called "Horror as Healing: Building Community by Queering Horror, a virtual panel with MystoPress".

Our Kickstarter is just a little over a month away! With 15 contributors and more comics and art than ever, I'm so excited for you to see what we've been cooking all these months. The prelaunch page is live so please head over to give it a follow so you'll be notified the moment we go live!

In the foreground is text announcing the upcoming anthology with an image in the middle of the book cover, along with three pages of comics as a preview for the contents of the book. The text reads "Paroxysm Vol 5: Haunted" above the preview images, and below is a QR code to follow the prelaunch page.

Really excited to come back to Wilmington in just a few weeks for Stone Soup, so if you’re in the area and want to grab zines/trade, I’ll be there and at 2 more events. Unsure what things will look like event wise for me in the future, but I know I’m not the only one who had to scale back this year.

A peek at the very first contribution by @artofddraik.bsky.social to Paroxysm Vol 2 (so long ago!) as we gear up for their work in the upcoming Volume 5!

Working on my project for Volume 5 of Paroxysm Horror Anthology (published by @mystopress.bsky.social) and found my notes and storyboards for my first go around in Volume 2: Possession with my experimental comic project, “The Path”, which you should totally read.

Sketchbook pages by Danielle Draik of their comic, “The Path”. Hurried storyboard doodles and notes.

It's been a while since I've shared a longer form comic from years past on here. "Muse" has to be one of my favorites, featured in Paroxysm Vol 2 back in...2020. Damn. It's kind of a love/hate letter to art school, inspired partly by a horrible rash I had on my hands during that time. (1/3)

I blue pencil a LOT of thumbnails for stories I want to work on when I only have the time to quickly and loosely jot down ideas. These all sit in gigantic folders in my office. I recently pulled pages out from circa 2019 when I made a metric ton of these, and decided to pencil them in. (A thread)

THIS FRIDAY I'll be in Durham for the Works On Paper Roundup at the Armory! I printed a few copies of my First Date mini and am bringing any remaining copies of my other zines (Paroxysm anthologies aplenty though!) And later in the year I'll be at the NC Art Museum for their Art Book Fair in Sept!

I don’t know how to tell you all this, but using reference photos to draw things you’ve spent decades of your life trying to master from memory gets comics drawn much faster. Forget trying to prove I can draw a car, bitch-ass Honda is getting a traced under layer and we’re MOVING ON goddamnit.

JUST A REGULAR FIRST DATE is a comic I started almost exactly 1 year ago and only managed to finish it now. So glad i revisited it much later, the final result is all the better for it. It's a pretty silly idea, but do let me know if this is how online dating usually goes. I wouldn't know. (1/2)

Panel 2 shows a closeup of his phone where he's reading a profile and says "ooh, he looks cute". It shows a photo of another guy's selfie on an app called STUDFINDR, and below reads "Dillon, 23, M/M, online now" and his profile says "I may be shy at first, but I have a wild side that might come out to play <3" The MC's finger hovers over the Message button.Panel 3 of JUST A REGULAR FIRST DATE, a black and white illustrated comic. In the weeks since I’ve mentioned my need to raise more funds to restock comics, I’ve received more income from shop orders than I’ve ever gotten in a single month since my shop has been open. I am floored but at the same time I had a medical emergency this week so I’ll be shipping a bit late (1/2)
