Worth reading in conjunction with Monday's post which predicted how the "the burden of proof" would shift over to authors. I thought it was hard enough motivating myself to write, now I have to keep track of all my ramblings, dead ends and 'light bulb' moments. Please tell me how AI improves things.
On Monday I wrote about the $2.4M book deal that collapsed but the real story is what it reveals: the burden of proof, that we didn’t use AI, is shifting onto authors as if writing the book wasn't hard enough already. open.substack.com/pub/nadinema...

My task today was to organise my comics books, some of which were still in the plastic sleeve or in the cardboard envelope. #comicbooks
There’s a double standard here. It’s very interesting that James Frey was rewarded with double page spreads in newspapers and no cancellation, when he admitted his use of AI but a Black author who denies the use of AI loses his book deal and his writing career open.substack.com/pub/nadinema...
Suspicion is now doing the work of proof. A $2.4M book down the toilet over AI accusations but my new article is about what that suspicion means for every writer, not just one deal. open.substack.com/pub/nadinema...

I really don’t understand what happened with Tomi Ademeyi and the Children of Blood & Bone film. Her video left me none the wiser. Is it creative differences? Interference on set? What has happened. I did like the look of the trailer though #booksky variety.com/2026/film/ne...

New episode! In S3/E07, I'm looking at 'The Binding Room' by @nadinematheson.com. I'll take a look at the use of time shifts in the novel, an unusual case of team trauma, and I take a moment to ask two male characters to give Henley some bloody space! wp.me/phiaSF-aO

Where do ideas actually come from? Never a straight line. Wrote about where the idea for my new standalone, Once a Liar, came from and a bit of my writing process. If you were at my SOA session recently, some of this will feel familiar 📝 nadinematheson.substack.com/p/the-body-o...
Same person, two jobs. He spent his career as a Detective Chief Superintendent, 100+ homicide cases. To him: a suspect. I was a criminal defence lawyer. To me: a client. We don’t agree on much. But we agree manipulation is the tell, not the alibi. New ep w/ Dr Russell Wate 🎙️ Links in Bio
