Listening to Anne Tyler’s Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant many years after reading it, realized too late that I’d forgotten just how god-awful depressing it was. But I couldn’t stop listening, just as I couldn’t stop reading it. Some of her early novels are among my absolute favorite reads
Rest in peace to John Crowley, author of two of my favorite novels: Little, Big, which, coincidentally, I just started listening to (he reads it) a few days before I learned of his death. And The Translator, which I wish more people would read because it's so good. He was a wonderful writer.

Excited to read this - the subtitle is “The glory days of adventurers and rogues, time travelers and great detectives.” I’ve really enjoyed his other bookish books and highly recommend them. This one’ll be out in December

I continue to be flabbergasted as to why Birds Without Wings, the brilliant historical novel by Louis de Bernières, didn't win the Booker. Covering the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire through the horrors of WW I, it's not an easy read, but it's well worth it. And the audiobook is excellent.
Done & dusted. This @ravensburgertcg.bsky.social 1000 piecer is one of “Ray’s Comic Series,” and it’s called The Campsite. It was incredibly fun to do; I listened to Louis de Bernieres’ Birds Without Wings, which is an absolutely brilliant novel. Both puzzle and book are highly recommended
Ross Thomas’s Briarpatch, one of my favorite mysteries, is only $.99 at Amazon today. He was the most cynical writer I ever met and it definitely showed up in his novels
