For people struggling to raise funds for friends in Gaza, here's an idea. (There are several, by the way) On Sundays I sell tapas at a bar in our town. Sunday is the day people go out for a drink before a big late lunch. Since November of last year we've raised over €2K for friends in Gaza.

Once upon a time in Gaza, there lived the Al Shawaf Family. Mom, dad and seven, count 'em, seven sons! Their life was modest, simple and very happy. I asked Mustafa, 3rd eldest, if he ever wished for a sister. He told me yes, he wished he had a sister. Large families full of love are so special.

Once upon a time in Gaza. There lived a family in Khan Younis, the Al Shawaf Family. Mom, dad and their sons. They had nothing but their land, which they farmed and harvested and sold to make a modest living. They had cats for pets and they were happy. This easy life was fleeting and transitory.

A bar in my Spanish town allows me to sell tapas (snacks) on Sundays to make money for friends in Gaza. Tomorrow is spicy buttermilk chicken breast with rice/bulgar/angel hair pasta/chickpea combo with a yogurt tahini sauce and crunchy fried cashews.

A problem with Chuffed links (and others possibly?) is that the entire hyperlink must be tapped, otherwise you get "page not found". As in this post, it's only a part of the website address that's visible. I'm commenting on my page because the account doesn't permit my comment.

A great friend of mine reiterated to me today that because her spare money is so difficult to come by, she donates only to organizations because it feels "safer" somehow, and I'm pretty sure this ignorance is based on her not having direct contact with anyone in Gaza. It's a damn shame.

I’m going to say something many folks won’t like, which is your need to put money into a fundraising platform, rather than doing a ve/nmo or pa/ypal transfer, is about vanity. And it robs people, here in the west and Palestine, immediate help for the sake of that vanity
