Senior software engineer, community manager and developer educator.

I do not judge a sponsor track by its submission count. At the AI Hackathon at Berkeley, ours received 141 submissions, third-most of any sponsor. The count alone hides most of what happened.

Before I run a workshop, I give every resource its own short link: signup, the guide, the docs, each repository, the deck and the Discord invite. Then I can see what people do after the session.

At a developer conference expo in San Jose, I changed our booth screen while the event was running. Here is how I decide what the screen shows. The day before the expo opened, I scoped the venue and confirmed our booth space. That gave me time to plan the screen before the first visitor arrived.

Big news! 📚 We just finished a major documentation overhaul! Our docs went from 180 pages to 103 - smaller, more accurate, and easier to trust. And the best part? Nothing about the tools you use has changed! ✨ #DevCommunity #Documentation

I will be at Deepgram Speak. Will you? Speak is bringing builders, researchers, founders, and teams together to build with voice AI. Hear what’s next in voice, and get hands on. Register here (use a business email to get $500 credit upon attending): deepgram.com/speak?utm_so... See you in SF! 🩷

Deepgram Speak 26
San Francisco - October 29th
Come build. Leave with $500 in Deepgram credits.

The format was three hours. Welcome drinks, a short orientation, then open build time where founders worked on their own products while engineers and go-to-market people circulated. I designed it that way for a few reasons.

Most companies treat community as a support queue with better branding. I think that is backwards. A developer community is a feedback loop, and most teams throw the signal away. Thread:

As a general rule of thumb, assume that any file anyone sends you is a virus. Do your due diligence before downloading and running/opening it. "But Naomi, my friends/family/partner would never send me malware." Sure, but your friends/family/partner's *compromised account* could. Be smart about it.

Just a heads up I got a DM on ArtStation, where I was asked to download a .blend file and give a quote. It's a virus, even if it's just a .blend file! **Blender files can run custom python code!**

From a technical standpoint, unless you have a zero-day retention policy, a BAA/DPA, or another agreement that precludes your data from being retained and consumed by the model provider... anything you send to an LLM is effectively now public data. Obligatory I am not a lawyer, but she's spot on ⬇️

I am seriously so sick of arguing with people who tell me that it's fine to use AI for their legal matters and it does not waive any confidentiality or privilege because the AI told them so.

Check my pulse check my head Check the shadows on the wall Pacing in a circle waiting For the world to fall They say take a deep breath They say go and take a pill But if the world is moving fast Then I'm never standing still

Oh hey a wave of followers. Hello new friends! I apologise in advance I am an unhinged chaotic gremlin following me is a wild ride but I promise it'll be fun!
