Fantastic reporting here by Libby Rainey that confirms what we've been hearing about the "clean zones" around LA28 venues: "Carter Hewgley, chief strategy officer for L.A. County’s Department of Homeless Services and Housing, said his office had been told to plan for perimeters as wide as a mile"

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:

When writing my book on film noir (more than 20 years ago) I read a lot of debate over whether it was a genre, a style, a movement, or what. Then I read a great book which briefly summarised all this and said "Ultimately, though, the question of whether noir is a genre is not very interesting".

Crops grown underneath solar panels produce more, require less water and are more resistant to extreme weather, even during a hot, dry summer. We need agrivoltaics to be rolled out asap, for both the electricity and the better growing conditions. microgridmedia.com/solar-panels...

I'm not religious, but I found Reacher actor Alan Ritchson's response to this question about his faith quite moving
I've been thinking a lot about this tweet since reading it, and I'm developing a theory that this is part of the secret to how Nolan makes 180-minute films that feel like 300-minute films that feel like 90-minute films
one thing nolan does is REALLY trust his actors to bring depth even when the dialogue is sparse or a scene is small. himesh patel brings a LOT of characterization to a role that on paper could be thin, lupita nyong'o perfectly encapsulates clytemnestra's rage and elevates a short cut-away scene.
For anyone who hasn't seen Following: Nolan has explained that the way it opens (an interior stable-camera conversation; all other stuff is handheld) was to imply that they *chose* not to shoot it stable (they couldn't afford to and had the actual set for one day).
nolan's first feature length, following, is on criterion right now, fyi
the bad type layout here makes it seem as if Lee Child thinks Reacher is real and co-wrote the stories with him
ALERT, ALERT: Alan Ritchson, Reacher from the TV show Reacher, has musical theater training. I repeat: REACHER('s actor) CAN SING
Wait, it might actually be that Aaron Sorkin is, in fact, *great* at comedy, but *only* screwball comedy. He doesn't have a real gut-level feel for any other kind, let alone a Theory of Comedy more broadly (which is the obvious problem with Studio 60 and the less-obvious problem with The Newsroom).
I think maybe my most oppressed opinion is that I think Christopher Nolan is a way better screenwriter than a lot of others seem to
