Nate Warren asked a while back if I would write a little something about how I got into board games. So naturally I wrote a 3,000 word personal essay. You can check it out here. It’s halfway decent if I must say so myself. Or just click through to see what I looked like as a baby. Either way

There is a single cicada somewhere in my open air garage. It just started buzzing so loud I couldn’t think of the word cicada.
A handful of Dead or Phish songs could easily cover this.
Fun question: Who IS on your “8 hours good” list?
“a sporting event greater than the World Cup, World Series, and World War II combined.”
Wtf is this shit? (Not the thread but what Dave’s talking about.) How broken of a person do you have to be to look at Blade Runner and think, I want to live in that? If you’re going to be plagiaristic, The Shire with wifi and modern healthcare and Ween is an option. A much more human one, too
Thread. I'm listening with horror to this BBC interview, which is ostensibly about climate change. Liam Young is an Australian architect who saw Blade Runner and decided "that's the vision of the future we need." Wait, what?🧵
First effort they’ve made to fight anyone since they got elected
Lmao they're gonna fight against Democratic socialists by promising voters a better future is not possible
They do not want *this*, no matter how ill-defined, or possibly undefinable, *this* is. And they certainly do not want people who are super into crypto or AI or funding ICE but training them better, basically, they do not want the Dem waiter to KEEP BRINGING THEM THE SOUP, SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT 7/x
When I was a kid at my grandma’s house in Nebraska, we would visit in the summer. She had a window ac in her bedroom, and one in the living room but that one didn’t work. I slept in the living room and my parents in the spare bedroom. A non working window ac meant I couldn’t open the windows
You can also just...cool one room. You also don't need to run the AC all day. I grew up broke as fuck and we had one A/C in my parent's bedroom and we used it at night. The kids slept on their floor. On really hot days I biked to the library and used THEIR AC
Think we found who it was that said Walz should stop saying “weird”
I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination. Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.
I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I don’t know if fans blame players for work stoppages in sports because those are names they know. I think there might be more going on. Sports fans make up the same demographics as the sports they watch: labor and ownership.
People blame players in every sports labor dispute because they have names you recognize and the faceless owner class mostly doesn't. But the owners are the ones telling Jalen Brunson he has to take a below market deal -- sorry, dem's the rules! -- while ignoring that *they made the rules*. 4/5

How much of those montages are just clips from Jerry Bruckheimer movies?
The Pentagon is feeding Trump a daily, 2-minute video montage of “stuff blowing up.” Those clips are stoking his “increasing frustration with news coverage of the war. … asking aides why the news media doesn’t emphasize what he’s seeing,” www.nbcnews.com/politics/whi...
This gun has such a history of accidentally misfiring that it made multiple guns go off over and over again.
This is how desperate they are. It’s gross.
🧵 One of the easiest yet most powerful actions you can take to resist authoritarianism? 📣 WRITE IT DOWN & PRINT IT OUT. 📣 Reminder that one of the most compelling pieces of evidence to come out of WWII was the diary of a 14-year-old girl. (AKA "just one person".)
I was not expecting to see an interpretation of Godot today
Good work watching that game everyone. Rest up. We’ve hopefully got 7 more just like it
I’m showing my 8 year Parks and Rec. Just saw the one where Jen Barkley convinces Ben to run for Congress. Ben: Congress? I’m not qualified. Jen: The House of Representatives, Ben. You might be overqualified.
Mark Teixeira’s statement about running for Congress right before rolling over to second
Here's Trump saying to Bukele that "homegrown criminals are next" and talking about how El Salvador will need to build "about five more places."
Just saw a headline that said “Where In The World is [person I’ve never heard of]” and I thought oh, did they get deported too?
The dude who waved the Palestinian/Sudan flag is banned for life from all NFL stadiums the day after the Super Bowl. But it took 3 months to ban the dude who grabbed Mookie’s arm.
It’s a shame his pro poker player friend never figured out how to open his own betting account.
Oh, yeah, it was just his friend whose account he shared. Ya know how that goes, you bet $700,000 on baseball games because your buddy is a MLB ump but you guys never discuss it, totally normal stuff
